    chryco63 14's or bust!

That looks great, especially with the TTIIs! Keep the 340! Keep the 340! :TU:

UMI Performance boxed lower control arms, and a rear swaybar off of a F41 car have been added. KYB Gas Adjusts too. Had to stop the hop....

This car does donuts pretty easily, i'll have to take a video and post it soon!

Sound like your leaning towards keeping it:TU:

You do realize that a stock 455 weighs less than that el cheapo SBC...right.

Snag the 70 455, add a cam, leave it all stock other than like it is or freshen it up with ring & bearings and new paint. A stone stock one would fly a big old Lesabre at 70 like it was no tomorrow!
    :Comp:
That $1200 worth of parts, you don't need 'em, thats the SBC mindset. Add a mild cam, tune the Q-jet, end of story.

Well I'm looking to go somewhat fast....like 11's. I think it'll be cheaper to get a SBC into the 11's than a BBB.

If money wasn't an issue i'd have a bad ass BBB in the regal, but last time I checked aluminum heads were like half as cheap for the SBC.

Plus, I already have a "nice" SBC and th400 that I got for free off CL.

Okay, well, maybe mine were all just freaks of nature, 12's on street tires with pump gas and 3.42 gears.

Its really better that way, leaves more big block Buicks out there...

    Hey man,

I'm not trying to start any arguments here....

All i'm saying is from my experience....I just built a 400 BBB 2 summers ago, cost me upwards of $3500, and the fastest it's gotten me is 14.4, now i know it's only a 400, has 2.93 gears, and inside a 4000 lb. car, but it cost me alot of money and didn't get me going as fast as i wanted. It just left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

I really wanted to sell the regal and buy a chevy so I didn't have to ruin it with a chevy motor. But I built the regal the way i wanted to, and don't think i'll be able to sell it for what i'm asking. If i wind up keeping it for a long time, which i probably will, I wouldn't be suprised if I dropped in a BBB or a turbo buick motor.

PS - just bought a 3" fiberglass bolt-on cowl hood for it today for $60!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm psyched/I <3 Craigslist!!

sold the 340/350 drivetrain out of it on Friday. Gotta figure out what direction to go with the car/motor.

I just put it on CL for $2500. See what happens, letting you guys know too.

Got the cowl hood on it, and got it weighed, 3400 pounds with me in it...that's with the draglites as well. with the 340/350.

Still thinking of a BBB, turbo v6, or build my SBC with or without turbos possibly.

    Nice work Jay...

As for my Regal, I bought another motor for it, but am going a bit more high tech....:TU:

traded my stock incomplete turbo motor for a built 383. I wouldn't have done it but the deal was rediculous...Now i just need to put it all together!

The 383 is pretty cool. Definitely a street motor, but pretty damn stout. Shop built.

besides the 2 bolt main block and only a cast crank, everything else seems to be top of the line.

Forged pistons and rods, aluminum AFR 190 angle plugs, full roller valvetrain, RPM air gap, came with the complete fuel and nitrous systems as well.

I'm aiming for high 11's on motor, and I think I can do it, that's with an hour drive to and from the track before and after. The motor took a 92 S10 to an 11.30 at 123 on a 100 shot.

I'm gonna use my th400 trans, just get like a 3500 stall and a shift kit for it.

I basically have everything together, just need the converter. I've got all winter to get it back together.

The latest thing I've done was sump the stock gas tank. I've still gotta clean it up a bit more and paint it while it's out.

I bought headers and solid motor mounts for it, just need new slicks, mufflers, and front drag shocks.

hey just bought an 84 regal (not a wagon) the owner had just swapped in a 340. ive been looking to see if it has been done and found you. mines over heats and it looks like it has a 4 barrell carb with two dummie barrell so i think its a 2 barrell. if you could give me some feed back on what i could do please. thanks. nice ride.

my 340 ran great, Think it ran like high 14's... I haven't had that combo since 2 summers ago though. had a 383 SBC in last year and traded the car this past fall.

I'd just look into the "power timing your v8 buick" thread...that should help with the overheating too. I had a stock v6 regal radiator and that worked fine.
