Larry the N25 is hooked up.I do plan to get new exhaust put on the car. The driver side pipe is the worse and the N25 tip is not centered up well.
To be honest between the Ladder Bars, Coil over shocks, & Station Wagon Springs it will knock the wind right out of you when you drive over the slightest bump in the road. I plan to makes some changes very soon. It's beyond uncomfortable !!!! I need this car to ride more like a reg Buick.
Excited to get some new exhaust pipes put on I also added a cool window cling reproduced by board member Briz
Yeah I think the old mufflers were shot lol. The New pipes look great. One step at a time but it's slowly getting better and better. Now the next thing is to get the 4:56 gears out of that rear !!!! Its driving me NUTS !!!
I tell you what, for a cruiser I have 2.93's in mine, sounds way high but I can cruise 80-90 mph all day long and she will still smoke the tires off.
Any way to keep the ladder bars but still soften the ride? They just look so cool on the rear and side views of the car.
To me thats a great gear. I like a highway gear because I have no plans to take this car to a track. No I originally was thinking 3:08 or 3:31 at the most. Defiantly going to keep the Ladder bars on the car. I agree they are just cool. I am going to take the station wagon springs out along with the coil over shocks. I will put something stock back in for a more pleasant ride. I pulled a rear axle out of a 72 Skylark 4 door the other day and I have a good 2 Series Posi with 2:56 gears that I think I am going to use. I do a lot of highway driving and it will be really nice to just have it as a cruiser. I have no plans to race this car or do a lot of burnouts. It won't be easy to light up the tires when you have 275/60's on the back and Ladder bars even with 3:31 gears. I figure with a 2:56 posi in it I can kick back and enjoy the drive.
You're absolutely right they would be awesome gears for that. I really want to do that. I enjoyed meeting the people and seeing the cars at the beginning of that event. That is one event I have on my bucket list for sure. One of the coolest events I have ever attended. I would also like to have some A/C for that event
My arms are now jello after using wood chisels to remove undercoating from the frame. This stuff is a pain to get off but I am really happy to report the frame is in GREAT condition. I am shocked how solid the frame is being a northern car. I figured I would show some before and after pics. I will also put some pics up after I put a little paint on the frame. I still need to do more grinding with a few wire brushes to get everything nice, clean, and smooth. I am officially blaming Dave Tumas for all this detail work. lol Dave and his detailed self is affecting me. He has a sickness for detail haha (Its a good thing) All kidding aside Dave has been great with guiding me on things to do and most importantly HOW to do it. He knows so many techniques that make things easier but things like this are just time and elbow grease.
What a difference! Being from the north I guess the undercoating actually did it's job over the years.
Yes Brian, I think it did its job very well. I have seen souther cars that were not as nice as this one is. I am very happy that its solid with no issues.
"I am officially blaming Dave Tumas for all this detail work. lol Dave and his detailed self is affecting me. He has a sickness for detail haha...................." Ryan, That is why we call him "Eagle Eye" Tumas. The car looks great. Duane
Looks great Ryan! Be careful though. The frame is the easy part. After you paint it, you may think the floor pans don't look all that good now, and if you decide to tackle the floor pans, you will be busy for a very long time!
Especially now that the new exhaust is on. I can see it now, the exhaust is coming down, then all the other small parts. Then Ryan starts looking like a Coal Miner, with all that undercoating falling down on him......................Priceless. Duane
