What 3 inch mufflers is everyone going with now? I just realized that dynomax no longer carries the 3 inch super turbo long case. It also appears there parent company walker discontinued the long case 3 inch muffler that worked well. So now I'm looking for options thanks.

I really like my Hooker Aero Chambers, straight through but also has a chamber at the rear, sounds nasty

The Dynomax welded are nice as are the Stainless rolled lip Ultra Flos

Dynomax Super Turbo 17792 16" case offset/offset 3". 17665 22" case is the longest 3" offset/offset. Both have 3" internal tubes, hence the larger (5.5" by 11") case

We use a lot of the "Magnaflow" 3" stainless mufflers here at the shop, ..... never a problem and we love the sound. Even though they are straight through, they are at an acceptable volume level at idle and normal acceleration, but come alive when you bag it.

X2, I use the 14261 Magnaflows. Nice and quiet at idle and cruise, but really scream at full throttle.

Magnaflows didn't have enough growl at idle for me

That is why a thread like this is pointless. We all have different preferences, that is the subjective nature of "what sounds the best". What I did was walk around my local cruise night, look at different exhaust and mufflers, talked to the car owners, and listened to the engine if I could. Then you can make a more informed choice. You can also listen to Youtube videos, but it's better to listen "in person"

Thanks guys this is not a wasted thread. I know the sound I want. Along time ago I heard a 70 silver gs at BG. It had 3 inch super turbo on it. I was hooked. I ended up buying the 2 1/2 17749 for a different project and loved them. Last week when I was looking for the 3 inch I couldn't don't the long case offset/offset . Looks like 87gn helped me out. Dynomax website doesn't even show those .mufflers anymore. When I called the. They said they don't make a offset/offset muffler any more. I want a sound most don't have and most buicks always have a different style amd sound

Before I bought my Magnaflows, I had the 17749 Walkers with a 2 1/2" X pipe system. I loved them, quiet rumble at idle, quiet at cruise, and they screamed at WOT. That was what I was after with my 3" X pipe system. The Magnaflow 14261 has the same characteristics which is why I chose them. See if you can find someone who has them and listen.

Thanks Larry I'll check into them. I have just never heard another muffler like the super turbo that has that distinct ring to them

I always like the Dynomax Super Turbos. I have a 3" Torque Tech system that I run them with, but I am switching to a 3.5" system, and the right muffler had very few options. I ended up getting the Dynomax welded race mufflers.
When you get to 3" mufflers, you have to watch some of the cheaper mufflers are not 3" inside. They only have a 3" stub on them. A lot of the Summit mufflers are good, and some are made by Dynomax. If you ask, they will usually tell you. Summit hardly makes any of their own stuff. It is just repackaged. For example:I bought one of their A-body aluminum radiators, and it was a Griffin, and even came in a Griffin box.

If you heard a "ring," I would bet the car had MT headers, and THAT was what you were hearing...
