I thought about it a couple times, but that's just about it. Actually, it's funny, I work many 12 hour days anyway, so being able to take the rest of the week off would be a cool idea. BTW, 3 days on, 3 days off..........that only adds up to six! I'm assuming Sunday is non negotiable. :pp

3 on and 3 off wouldnt be bad if they were straight days or straight nights. If you start going from one to another, you start missing out on your days off while you are sleeping.

I used to work the "Rapid Rotation" Contenential shifts for Proctor and Gamble. I swear I will never ever go back to that crap. You spend your days off preping for your next set of shifts. If anyone is not familiar with this time table, trust me.... its not worth it. 2 years of it was quite enough.

Right now I am working Fri, Sat, and Sun only and they pay me time and a quarter to do it. Pretty sweet but you end up missing most of the drags or car shows that are on the weekend.

I don't feel to sorry for you and your 12 hour shift, not when the Department of Transpotation allows us to drive for up to 15 hours in a day.

I worked for Quad Graphics (Soon to be the largest printer:grin: ) for 14 years, worked 3 on 4 off 4 on 3 off, It was great, I really miss that schedule. Its not for everyone, if you have a family with a working wife it could be a drag but the days off should make up for it.

I worked in Finishing, Started out feeding pockets, worked my way up to leadperson/manger.

    Good Luck :beer

    Been there; delivered that.

    Yea I know it sucks!
I'm trying to get something local around here and be home more, say every other night.
But with all the drivers that got laid off by CF, there aren't very many local deals out here.
I've been working the harbor shuttle since the ports opened back up but as soon as the backlog gets caught up I'm afraid I'll have to go back to the long haul.
I hope I can find something better before that happens.
I'm even willing to make a little less if it will get me home more.:Brow:

I worked that schedule for half a dozen yrs and liked it. You knew what and when your days off were ahead of time and actually had more days out the shop then a regular work week. I'd be happy to see my shop go back to it. Vacation time went a lot farther too, use one day and get 4 off, couldn't beat that!

I'd like to do 12 hr shifts , but then again , I work nights 11 pm -7am 5days a week . Now that sucks! It was supposed to be a temporary thing, you know foot in the door and all... but the downturn in high tech changed that. Now I'm the only tech left on my shift. Just finished 4 years Nov.5.

Finishing, a fancy word our industry has come up with for bindery. :gt:
Stuffing envelopes is now 'Fullfillment'

I'd have to say my favorite was 3rd shift.
In my twenties I ran a lathe on 3rd.
2nd isn't bad either. You at least can take care of any business you need to do during the day.
Now, I've got to duck out to take care of something that may come up.
