I have a GN motor that I have been saving for a cool project. What do you guys think of a 1969 GS 231 Turbo? I saw a 65-67 skylark with a GN motor last month in Car Craft (i think) and it got me thinking. It is a buick in buick engine swap so it not like putting a chevy in a buick(God forebid) Has anyone here done this kind of swap yet? I have helped some of my fellow Turbo Six buddys swap these into non turbo regals and cutlass'. Not really a big deal! Jake
Boy oh Boy...I keep thinking about it. I have a 69 GS with an empty engine bay and have kinda been hoping to run across a turbo 6. What makes me think about it is that there is a recent issue of Hot Rod Magazine where a GN or T-type that is driven on the Power Tour woops the dyno to 800hp! Another advantage is that I would have room to stand in the engine bay and work on the little motor! Keep me posted. Tom
Hey Jake, if you go with the V6 Turbo...do ya wanna sell those roller rockers for the 350 :Brow: Let me know...I have no prob. picking them up :TU: Larry
Larry, I also have the adjustable push rods to go with the rockers. I don't think I will ever sell them, however. If I do you will be the first to know. I need an intake, cam, and headers now! I will build a respectable Buick 350, Maybe not today or this year but somedayuzzled: I want to get the heads worked too but maybe for now I'll just run the stock heads and send another set to be ported. Jake
That would be cool:bglasses: There is a guy in town here with a 66 nova with a V-6 turbo in it , Its really clean and the engine looks like it was born there. Apparently it runs Mid 11's and he drives it every where! Adam.
yes Yes YES !!!!! I've been thinking about this alot too....... Do it for both of us !! I was the car in the magazine run at the Nats.....it was Very clean, a mild motor and ran really well. I hope you have the 'puter as well as the motor I'll look to see if i have video of the run and post it if i do
Oh yeah I have the ECM, wiring harness, downpipe, intercooler, even a stock rad. I would need an electric fan set upand a fuel pump set up and probably a whole pile of other things. I guess I could run the TH350 for now. I am still doing some soul searching because I always wanted to leave my GS 350 as a 350. I would be very happy with a 13 second 69 GS 350. Jake
Alan, I think I might be there! I was going to have to work, but I got out of it. I am trying to convince my buddy to go with me in his 68 convert. It is a bondo bucket and the frame looks like swiss cheese, but it is the only Buick powered legal running car out of the 3 that we own. Do you have a pics of your sportwagon you could email me. I am starting to get the itch bad and I want to show the wife how pratical it would be to get one. Jake
just show her this picture....if she doesn't drool check for a pulse. notice the subtle side view of the '69 GS hood scoops ??
Alan, Yes the wife is still alive and well:grin: She loved your car! I started to prepare the duster for sale last night. It has a burnt vavleo No: So I yanked the head (yes head- Slant Six, Baby) and dropped it off to the machine shop today. I am going to try to register my GS tommorrow and tune her up, change the oil and:jd: drive it to E town on Sunday. I hope I can pull it off! Jake
Whoa there......maybe i shoulda been more specificou: Thats not my wagon.....but its the sharpest one I've ever seen. Actually....I almost bought it before the current owner. Jake.....give me a call if you want to talk Work 9-5 212.572.9265 home (after 7) 631.368.0274
Jake if you need help just phone my way too :TU: Work 8-5 (732) 739-8844 ask for Larry Home (732) 721-1371 Same goes to you Alan.... I will be with Buick this time Alan, she aint pretty to look at but the dam thing goes like hell . I think that Jake and I will be the only ones there with project cars in progress  Hope you guys like my car as much as I do...Oh yea I almost forgot ou: you guys also have to check out the 12 bolt rear too :Brow:. Jim Weise was stumped as to how it got in there from the factory in the US . See you guys there! :TU: Larry :TU:
That is the most awesome 69 sporty I've ever seen. I would not mind a bit to make that the family truckster. Just being able to look forward and seeing the bulge in the hood with the dual exhaust rumbling would be a real cool thing. That white roof just makes the car explode off the monitor. Gotta absolutely love the roof glass too man.
.....And the roof rack with deflector.....and the '69 GS hood !!:TU: I flop back and forth about my Sporty.....Every time i re-look at this Pick I get a SportyWoody:Brow:
Ive been thinking about it too, but in a 69 Camaro SS. Really piss those Bowtie boys off.
ROFL....Ken !! Back on topic.....I think a TurboBuick transplant is one of the coolest things....in ANY Car....yes, a Chebby too. Notable sightings: AC Cobra Replica with Turbo, Datsun 240Z at Nats, totally stock looking running a mild turbo motor and going deep 11's, Mustangs (BuFords) late 80's century wagon with turbo transplant.....all VERY Kewl:bglasses:
