'68 to '72 a-body rear is an inch wider than the '64 to '67 , also you will have to get a hybrid u-joint to run the chevy rear with a buick driveshaft
What is a hybrid u joint and where can i get one?If it is too much trouble maybe i will just get it and see if i can find someone willing to trade.
its a common u-joint .i dont know the part # of the top of my head , but napa , or any major auto parts can help . its common for the chevy/gm swap . example , 12 bolt / 10 bolt chevy truck swap , its half the older smaller chevy and half the larger gm
if you are considering any trouble , like i said the '70 rear is wider an inch so be sure you have tire clearence
The '67+ A-body rears will bolt up on the '66 & earlier A-bodys control arms, but in addition to this Chevellle r/e's u-joint needing to be swapped to adaptor style, the spring perchs are different on the '67+ A-body rears. Rear springs will needed to be swapped as well, OR one can cut the coil spring "locaters" off later r/e, weld on small plates with holes in the centers, then bolt on the "ear" style rear coil retainers used with the '64-66 rear springs. Lot of hassle, IMHO, to run the weak Chevy 8.2 rear. Just my .02, good luck. :3gears: Roger
