Hi guys, anybody running either of these size tires on a 70-72 A body? I am looking at one or the other but not sure about the fitment.

I am running 17x9 rims with 4.5 backspacing, there are 235/55r17's on them now. the 275/50 is real close to the same height but about an 1.5 wider, the problem is there is only one tire available in this size. the 275/55 offers more tire options but it is about an 1.5 inch taller.

I am thinking the same thing. I would like to get 275/55/17 on the rear and 15" tires on the front, I want the body slanted down a little in the front. I just dont know if the 275/55/17 tires fit well in the back of a 71 skylark since they are almost 29" tall...

29" diameter is no problem, I run 28's with lots of room.

Is anyone running 275/55/17 on their 70-72 skylark? if so, how do you like them? Wheel backspacing? It seems like a lot of the tires for this size are suv tires, will it effect performance if I use those?

Nice looking car red67wildcat! Thanks for the info. I think I will pull the trigger on the 17x8 rims with 4.5 backspacing and 275/55/17 tires.
