I know it is not a V8 but a lot of the members here seem to appreciate classics so I thought I would post the arrival of the 1921 Buick Touring I bought two weeks ago at Mecum Indy.

Today the Mecum transport truck showed up with the car and I was relieved to get it to Fort Worth finally. The car was not running when loaded although it was running at and after the auction. I tried to start it while in the truck but no luck so we had to roll it out manually. Got it out and put it away in the mechanics garage. Got it to fire once in the garage before the battery died so we will work on it next week.

Looking forward to ice cream runs with grand kids, family and friends. 4th of July parade here we come:)

Mecum now has 12 trucks and 6 more on order. They partnered with United Van Lines in New Jersey and by
doing that they can drive into any neighborhood as United Van Lines where a commercial truck is not allowed. Smart guy that Dana Mecum.

Nice car. Wanted to make Mecum Indy since it is close but it just didn't happen. Mecum starting their own transport may be a shot in the foot. Reliable carriers is a big sponsor at Mecum. It would be interesting to know what is going on between them.

Reliable was at Indy at a small vendor table and a friend with me talked with them about the potential of bringing a car to Dallas if he bought it (which he did not) and he said the Reliable guy was pretty negative in that they had to be a normal vendor and buy a space. My two experiences with the Mecum transport have been A+ in that they keep you informed, drivers were sharp and knowledgeable, trucks are clean as a whistle even with oak hard wood floors you would see in your house! Seem to be first class all the way around. I paid $150 for my Mecum delivery than was quoted to my friend by Reliable and I don't think the extra 30 miles to Fort Worth would make a difference and if so probably $50. Same caring attitude from Mecum folks you see at the auctions and dealing with them if you are bidding and buying. :)
