2019 brings a small change to gear box prices. I hate raising prices but the profit margin is not there. The cores are getting harder to find. The change will come in the shipping. I will no longer offer free shipping. how ever shipping will only add 20 dollars to the cost. I think that will be enough to cover things. gear boxes will still be 120 and the core charge will still be 120 the cost a quick ratio upgrade will still be 60. You can always buy a box outright if you have no core.

the beak down is as follows 120 plus 20 to ship plus 120 core charge

If you send a 3 to 3 1/4 turn core you will get 120 back.

if you send a core that is more than 3 1/4 you will get 60 back.

if you send in your 3 to 3 1/4 turn core first. it will be 120 plus the 20 for shipping so 140 total.

not much of a big difference. I hope it helps off set the core cost and more so get more cores returned. I'd like to thank you all for always tagging me when people ask about gear boxes. Thank you for supporting our small family owned and operated business. Brenda Serna Sal and I look forward to providing quality parts for your car in 2019 and beyond.

12.7.1 ratio factory style bolt in boxes. with full turning radius and tighter firmer feel over old worn out boxes. our boxes use stock hose fittings and stock rag joints.

you can send in your numbers matching box in for a rebuild and an upgrade. no extra cost to send in your core first. you will save some if not all of the core charge depending on if your box needs an upgrade or just a stock rebuild.

we also offer date coded boxes for an extra 40 bucks just let us know what date code you are looking for.

Can you do a quick ratio conversion on a 64-65 riviera box? I want to keep my stops in same place, but want 12:1 and firm feel

we get some from the bigger cars. they are closer ratio with full turning radius. none in stock right now but when I get one we can do it for you. if you send in your box we can do a rebuild that will make it way firmer than it is now.

Not to hi-jack, but I have the 2.5 turns lock-lock "808" Big Car steering boxes in stock. Quite a bit diff. than A-Body boxes. Send a PM & we can talk about it IF you wish.

Hector I’m not sure what box is in my 66 Special but I’m sure one of yours will improve it drastically. Is it prudent to just send you the box for a good quick-ratio bebuild or just get a new box shipped and send you the core. I haven’t tried to get the pitman arm off of it yet. Also, I plan to go LSx so other than fittings how do I have to modify for the higher pressure pump? Just a regulator change?

I have a few 4 turn cores so getting that core back is no big deal to me. only thing you will need is the hose adaptors for the LS fittings no other mods. I can have one out wed if you like all I need is your paypal address?

Hi Tom, thanks for the offer, but I want more than what the standard factory "quick ratio" boxes have to offer. I want it even quicker than that and much firmer feel.

Hi Hector, I have a few 63-65 Riviera core boxes in stock to send you. I would consider doing more than one box, but I need to know the final ratio and feel before doing all the same. I also have a core AGR steering box from an A body. It has the feel and ratio I want, but need the stops in the proper place and proper bolt pattern. I have a "Trans Am 12.7:1" box in my Riv now. It's ok, but like I said, I want quick and firmer. To be clear, I want something like what a Lee or AGR steering box can do. Thanks!

I don't deal in the rivi boxes more so the older slower ratio ones. the 808 box he is offering is your best bet. it is a quick ratio and with a rebuild it will stiffen up the steering and feel. I do not take any other boxes as cores other than the 6 or 76 casting.

The H2 option is 3.25 turns lock-lock. Mine are 2.5 turns lock-lock (depending on other parameters is about 12.1 at worst 12.5) & I can have it set-up to be a much firmer feel or anything in-between. These are a BOLT-IN for the stock box. You know that you will have to also alter the alignment specs. to go with a firmer feel???

Hector, got it, thank you for checking.

Tom, let me speak with Lee or Day Steering and figure out what I need. I am not happy with a "1 finger" steering feel and I have put the several of the regular factory fast ratio boxes in. I want a real performance box as I do mostly pro-touring builds, or stock looking but actually perform builds. Ask your rebuilder how stiff they can make it and give me something to compare by. I know what I want performance-wise, just trying to find the best way to get there. As far as mods to accompany the box, whatever is necessary is fine. I am far from stock and still going. Thanks and Happy New Year to you!

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Hector, can you do a manual box for a '68 Nova? (rear steer)

When you make for a "Sport" feel it can be as tight as you want within reason. You just have to upgrade the alignment specs. so the wheel will return to center more easily without helping it. You may have to go as far positive as 6*-8* Caster. After you get their quotes MAKE SURE to ask about the core return which is typically $100.00-$300.00. Usually IF you don't return a fast ratio box core you DON'T get the core deposit $$$ back. Normally you are NOT told this up front & when you return it you automatically lose the core + your shipping/packing/handling costs back to them. NOW try to get it back on their dime. So IF you were thinking about returning a regular '63-'65 box or even the H2 option box add the core charge to the estimate. UNLESS they have changed their core policy which I don't believe they have.
    Just FYI

I’ve done upper arms on two of my current hotrods to add five degrees of positive caster. Combined with a quick box it will really change the feel of the steering to something more like a modern sports car.the box only changes number of turns, the caster helps effort and return to center. Even in my 70 camaro it made a HUGE difference.
