We all know it is usually the guy who wants a new or newer pickup and not the wife. Not this time, my wife fell in love with a 2011 GMC Denali Crewcab. Being the loving husband that I am, I wasn,t going to stand between my wife and her happiness. So we traded our 2005 Silverado Duramax Crewcab for the newer truck. Besides it matches the trailer better.

Nice truck! Make sure you or anyone else does not put diesel in the DEF tank and vice versa.

And don't fill the DEF tank with it running. Matter of fact, just get rid of the DEF system all together. We have more issues with that than anything else here at the dealership....but yeah, the GMCs are gorgeous and much nicer inside than the Chevys.

Thanks guys, it is a plush ride alright, a lot quieter than the Silverado but it wasn't loaded up with leather and all the deluxe features. If this one is as good as the Silverado was I will be happy.

Those are my thoughts as well but a lot of people don't like to think about voiding their warranty so I don't say it any more.

if you do delete the emissions stuff, hang on to it! diesel emissions inspections are around the corner. lots of folks with smoke stacks are going to feel pretty dumb when they have to buy 8-10k worth of components to pass inspection...

There was an issue with big rig owner operators who were removing the DEF systems, particularly the first generation ones. Unfortunately it will void any engine warranty and likely cause subsequent owners serious problems if they live in an emissions testing state. One local shop owner I know refuses to perform that type of work. He'd rather lose a customer than deal with potential legal ramifications. I've also read about some shady heavy used truck dealers who've also removed DEF systems before selling trucks. The buyer would become liable for correcting that problem, should they get caught.

Later DEF systems have been greatly improved, especially on big trucks.

I won't be removing any of the emission components, I just can't see doing that. I do however have a have a catalytic converter and other exhaust components for a 2005 Duramax I need to get rid of .

The cats/scr on diesels aren't worth anything. Now, the DPF on the other hand. LOL

Yes, yes....I was merely joking about removing any government mandated emissions equipment. That would be evil.
