Anyone see the new 2005 Mustang? I've been anti-mustang for years now, just because they are all over the place. I could probably pick my nose and find a fox body stang. But the 2005 mustangs are pretty darn cool. I just saw the pictures today, I have to say that the designers of this one really did a nice job.

And why couldn't GM just do something like this to save the Camaro?

Here is the link if anyone else is interested

I think they're great. Look kinda like the 70-71's, but what's up with the rear?

It was modeled after a '68 Shelby, I'll see if I can't find some pictures for comparison. There are many styling ques between them.

minus the stripes and random hoodbump.:pp

i saw an earlier car that was red, it was very similar but it seems like this one has a lot of little differences that help it a lot...i have to say i like this, but it looks like something that might not exactly hit mass production (thunderbird). can't see ford doing that, though, since there are more mustangs on the road than anything....

This is the red one you saw earlier, same car, but a convert. [IMG]
They actually made to identical concept cars, but one a fastback and one a convert... good news? I sure hope it goes into production as we see it, I think they could sell a bunch of em. If it were GM, I'd be worried about the final outcome, but I think FoMoCo can pull it off. If only GM could have borrowed Ford's designers to help them with that family car....what was it....oh yeah, the new GTO.

[IMG] That is why I thought it looked like a 71. The headlights are recessed like the earlier ones, but not enough to really make a difference. Hence, the 71. I like the rearend on the 71's better, as well. Too bad they didn't use that:

    no differences?

guess it just looks better as a fastback...

I am not really a ford guy but... That thing looks so sweet  . I may very well be in line to buy one when they come out if they are smart and keep it real (V8 RWD).

Hey GM, you guys paying attention?????? The stampede is coming and you guys are gonna get trampled :blast:. The new GTO is cool but ain't gonna cut it. Look at the "heritage" design of the new stang. Lock yourselves in a room with pics of 67,8,9 camaros. Sharpen your pencils and get to work. Make it RWD, put a V8 in it, make it affordable, and make it look like a real camaro. You know why no one bought the previous gen camaro? Cuz it was big and ugly:error:. Yeah they were fast, but really fugly and not set up ergonomically to be a real sports car.

I'm not much of a Ford fan but do like the early Mustangs. If Ford puts this one into production the factory won't be able to keep up.

GM needs to get their heads out of their :moonu: and come up with a new Camaro/ Firebird ( or Skylark/GTO/Chevelle/Cutlass:grin: ) that will get some of the young buyers thinking GM again or 20 years down the road they won't have any customers. The auto manufacturers have always had a philosophy to have a vehicle for everyones needs throughout their lives. Once you get that young buyer into their first new car you can keep selling them what they need as they grow older, have kids, etc. . If they don't get that buyer first someone else will and GM eventually goes down the toilet.

I've driven GM products almost exclusively since I started driving in 1975 but as I look at their existing product line I sure don't see too much that excites me. I sure don't see anybody sitting at a board like this 20 years down the road talking about their fully restored 2002 Skylark!

Pontiac's slogan used to be "We build exitement!" , a better slogan for GM these days ( in my humble opinion) might be (sorry if it offends anyone) "We build excretement"

    thank goodness.

this is definately the end of an era for the mustang though...that engine compartment isn't exactly 'tuner-friendly'.:Do No:

I think that era ended in the mid 80's. I don't understand how the fuel injection guys (like the GN folks) do it. I would be lost when looking at an engine compartment full of wiring harnesses and pluming like the new cars have. I'll stick to my old iron :TU:
