I am a newbie to the board, but I plan on attending the BCA event and meeting all you fellow Buick freaks. I may even join the BCA if they have a registration booth set up. I probably wont show up till Saturday or Sunday. Some of us have to work ou: I live about 2 hrs away and might ride the motorcycle since parking will probably be at a premium. There's a Home Depot not too far away and some might be able to sneak in there to park and walk to the event.
Cause the folks at NYIRP wouldn't work them. I told them that the best way to do this is to tell them we want a separate lane for test & tune on a regular night, no big deal. but didn't happen, I don't know if the Lancaster thing will happen either? More to come on that.
Blaze333... You should try and get to Batavia on Saturday since that is the day of the show. There will not be a whole lot happening except folks going home on Sunday. :beer No racing at all possibly.... I was just getting brave enough to run the '68 down the track this time since it was so close to home if I broke anything . The 1/4 mile would have been great, but the 1/8 would be better than nothing for my first time... :3gears:
I hope I'll attend a BCA show one day :eek2: I think this show in Bavatia is the closest it can get from me , but does the BCA held the show every year at the same time and place ? Batavia is about 8-9 hrs from here
Dates & Places Donald, The BCA Nationals move all around the country and dates change yearly - BCA Chapters from all over the country bid on the Nationals and the Board of Directors choose the location 2 years in advance at each current National meet. Next year is Rochester, MN and it is looking very possible that the 2007 National will be out on the western seaboard. It is a great event and is without question the premiere Buick event anywhere in the world each year.
Thank for the precision , too bad I wasn't ready for this year Rochester Mn is 23h30 ride from here So if I well understood the BCA National event happen 1 time/year ?
gee, how bout having it in the topeka, kansas, or kc, kansas areas, both within driving distance for me
Chapters Jeff, a BCA area chapter has to first put a bid in for the Board of Directors to even consider an area. We often have members complain that Nationals are never in their area - well, to accomplish this a chapter in their area has to put in a bid - which goes back to the member needing to join a local chapter and work to make this happen. For most people 'good things" don't just fall into their laps, they have to work for it. There is a BCA chapter called the "Mid America" chapter in what I believe to be the Kansas City area - if interested I can give you the contact info.
Donald, Keith gave you all the details, but I encourage you to come without your car. I attended several, including the 75th anniversary in 1978. I got some very hard to find parts and lots of help talking to people who had done what I wanted to do. Even if you come only for 1 day I am willing to bet you will be real glad you did. BTW, I am writing this to you from Harrisburg, PA. Left Orlando FL on Sat and spent the 4th with close friends in Williamsburg. I am close enough to know I can be in Batavia tomorrow afternoon. Look for the Seamist Green 70 Convert and let me meet you there (positive thinking).
See you tomorrow Ken, I found the lighted mirror, and some other stuff we took out of the '70 Skylark race car, see you tomorrow. Have a safe trip, the rest of the way! I'll be unloading the swap mess tomorrow afternoon! Can't hardly see my car, I'm bringing so much Buick stuff!
