So, I have another question. I plan on getting a transmission pressure tester kit to make sure everything is within range after firing it up, but should I install a Trans temp gauge too, or is that possibly overkill?

I did pick up a universal TV cable, and I'm going to go with the recommendation from Jim Weise and have it hooked up to the gas pedal. I'll check the pressure as recommended from the ck book and adjust from there. That is if it ever gets above freezing again.

Would it be wise to have a trans temp gauge installed?

Overdue update. I had an issue with the oil pump had to get it replaced. But as of today it's in. Still need to check the pressure and fine tune it, but it runs pretty well on the two short test drives.

Pressure test to be sure :)

Yeah, I plan to do that tomorrow and hopefully that will be it for a while.

Pressure tested on sunday. Everything seemed to check out. But this might be me being paranoid but it feels like it gets into 2nd gear pretty quick. If that's true which way do I adjust to help that out? More slack on the TV cable?

More tight click back toward the firewall

Are you willing to share pix of your Mr. Wiese recommended gas pedal tv cable hook up. I've read about it but haven't seen one.
    Great you have it working.

I can do that. There's a few things I need to button up, but I can get pics this coming week hopefully. From Jims advice I basically just opened up the hole from the kick down cable on the firewall and right now just have a wire clamp to hook back up to the gas pedal kick down location. I want to find something better than a clamp and I somehow lost the set screw clamp that came with the TV cable kit.

So here are the pictures. The first just shows how I set it up and the second show the few items I got to make what I think is a cleaner look

The little white bushings fit perfectly in the 350 kick down pedal slot and hold the cable in place. The part number for those are 47099.

Thankz for the pix. So the bracket is already on the pedal arm right?
I haven't looked at mine to see yet(car is in storage about 40 miles away).
The cable adjuster is in the engine compartment right? Is there room to push the adjuster button?

Nice setup. Good find on the bushings.

Yep the bracket is the what the kick down cable was attached too on the pedal. The cable adjuster is in the engine compartment up against the firewall. There's room to push the button but it's a little tight just because the wiper motor is right there too.

Biggest trouble I had was I didn't have a dremel or anything small enough at the time to make the hole bigger. actually bought a pencil air grinder that worked pretty well.
