    I put a known good freshened 200 4r in my 67 gs 400 ragtop.
I installed a b and m street strip shift kit in it and a known good turbo regal converter. Was told gn converter would give slightly more stall than the stk monte carlo converter this trans had.
The problem is car starts in 2nd gear from a dead stop after driving.
1st trip will start in 1st gear.
Any stop after that it starts in 2nd gear unless the shifter is cycled from drive to park and back to drive in which case it will start in low again.
Car has 750 dp holley using the correct throttle lever bracket and tv cable brackets from holley for a 200 conversion.
Any thoughts on whats causing this issue? And how to fix it??
Shifts are firm and at what i would consider normal speeds driving car like a sane person .
Heavy throttle shifts seem a little soft

Put a pressure gauge on it and see what line pressure you have. Sounds like you have high line pressure at idle

TexasT Texas, where are you from

Disconnect the tv cable from the carb. With the engine idling, cycle the cable sharply several times. Sounds like the tv valve in the vb is sort of sticky and not returning to the no tv position.

As Jim sez, put a gauge on it. You will be able to see if you can get the tv to let the pressure back to where it should be.

I disconnected the tv cable and put it through its motions several times and added a can of trans x just in case there is some gunk in the vb.
I backed down the cable adjustment and
Now it seems it starts in low 98 pct of the time. Much improvment!
With my 3.55 gear i can cruise at 2200 rpms at 75 mph!
    Thanks for the replys guys!

X2. If you've recently tampered with the TV cable adjustment, its a tad too tight at idle.
