1985 F350 XL crew cab Centurion CL conversion dually

I've owned this truck for 28 years, but I have a new F350 on order.

7.3 liter IDI diesel w/a Gale Banks Sidewinder turbo. C6 4.10 gear, 20,000 miles on engine and rebuilt trans. odometer shows 44,XXX. Delay wipers, AM/FM CD 6 speakers, CB, Firestone rear air bags, Superhitch, camper tie-downs, bed liner Mr. Lugnut wheel simulators, fresh Michelin XPS tires. A/C works well. What kind of millage does it get with the 4:10's and a C6?

 

It has fairly tall 235/85 16 tires so it doesn't spin the engine to crazy. The off idle torque is quite impressive, but the truck isn't fast. Not pulling a trailer it get between 15 to 18 mpg. Pulling my trailer it can drop to 8 to 10 depending on the headwind of course.

 

I had a 85 350 crew cab 8' bed with the 460/ c6/ 4:10 gear and it never went over 10 mpg towing or not. Sold it for 4K

 

My 7.3 IDI w/4.10 and manual/OD only gets 12-14 - Probably would do better if I slowed down.

 

Been hauling the car trailer with a 01 F250. 7.3 4 speed od trans. Swapped in a 3:55 gear and det locker diff. It was getting 10 - 12 towing with the 3:73's now goes 15 - 18 mpg all day. 1900 rpm @ 68 mpg is her sweet spot.

 

Lowered the price

 

Chopped another $500.
