Ya ive been doin some research and price checking and its looking pretty expensive to fix this situation and replace other parts that go along with it

    I was quoted
150$ for both heads at a machine shop to check and clean the heads 300$ each if they need a rebuild
60$ maybe less for the starter if i can ever find one in my area
30$ for the intake/oil valley gasket
50$ with the head gasket kit thats has the valve cover gasket with it and all the other stuff
199$ to get my quadra jet rebuilt
    30$ for a water pump
And i didnt price an oil pump or timing chain and cover kit or the head bolts and such

I reused my headbolts. Buick v8s afaik never used tty bolts. But studs and aftermarket bolts are available from arp. Minimum you need headgaskets, valley pan gasket kit (comes with end seals), and probably exhaust manifold gaskets. Nothing else really needs to come off. Get some cheap oil and have the shop run it through, drain it, expect spme coolant. Do that 2 or 3 more times. If there eventually ends up being no more coolant in the oil, you're good to go. Tbh if it doesn't clear up after the 2nd change, there is cause for concern.

I would go with Quadrajet Power for a rebuild on your carb. May cost alittle more but better then a parts store remanufatured. Depending on who you are getting a carb from.

Those prices seem high to me to check and repair the heads . . . granted I'm just about to drop off a pair of 350 heads at a machine shop next week so I don't know yet how much it will come in at. But they said if I bring them my heads they'd give me an estimate on the work for free so if I were you I might try and find a shop that's a little more reasonable. I would expect more in the neighborhood of $300 - $400 total for both heads for the most basic rebuild (valve job and resurface). But again, I won't know actual prices until next week. Also I'm in CA where everything is more expensive.

As MrSony said, you may be able to get away with just replacing the head gaskets and a good cleaning with oil. Might as well try first, you'll only be out the cost of the head gaskets, intake gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, and a 6 pack! Probably $150 - $200 in parts. Then at least you'll be familiar with the process.

3-400 for valve job on both heads is about average . You should not need hardened seats, it’s already an unleaded engine. You should only need them if any valves are sunk.
