    Hi everyone,

Would anyone here happen to have a pic or copy from the manual of a 1976 Buick Quadrajet carb set up with where the hoses go? I just put a rebuilt '76 carb on my '72 engine as it features a converted electronic choke. Buick runs great with carb but I'm trying to figure out an issue - car starts right up with the proper high idle but dies after about ten seconds. I believe that I have the hoses connected correctly but I would like to double check.

best I can do for a diagram is the 75 version which i think is the same, or at least will give you ideas.

when a carb cold starts up like that and quits, I have found that it usually is starting on the pump shots then leaning out. Might need more fuel from the mix screws or could have air getting in there somewhere.

    good luck!

Thanks Ken - carb looks the same as in the diagram. I'm going to open up the mix screws more today. Noticed the primary air flap seems to open all the way too quickly so I adjusted the electric choke yesterday. When I push the primary air flap to close a bit more with my finger the engine runs smooth, when it is open all the way it is running rough and dies out.

there should be a screw on the back of the primary pulloff arm that will set how far the primary choke flap will open after a cold start.

So when cold, the choke snaps shut fully until the car starts, then the pulloff opens it just a bit to let a little more air in. sounds like its set to let too much air in so its going too lean and dying.

    check link adjustments too.

    good luck

    >>Hi Ken. Which way does the screw turn to close the primary choke flap more?
