I found this 75 Riv GS about 50 miles north of my place. The fellow who owns it bought it for the engine and some sheet metal. He says it's going to the shredder. If I brought it home, would any of you be interested in any pieces? He also has a 73 Lesabre out back.
Randy, You might want to check for a posi diff. If it's one of those rare 9 3/8 posi's of the 3.42 variety, that will sell very quickly. I think even a 3.23 posi would have some demand.
He says it has a posi. How do you ID those diffs? It's got 10 bolts on the cover, that's all I noticed about it.
Dibs on the floor mats, woodgrain dash plates, lower left dash plate, air vents, speedometer surround, plastic arm rest cover and a few more bits and pieces :TU:
This thread might have your answers. I cannot recall how to ID those diffs. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?249192-did-a-75-riv-come-with-a-9-3-8-rear
Well it looks like it just has that big 8 7/8 10 bolt in there and I spoke to him again and the only reason that he believed it had a posi is because it was a GS. However I decided I'll still pick it up. Tomorrow I go out there with the trailer, and when I get it home I'll post it on parts for sale. Guyrobert, your dibs are all noted.
that auto climate control set up you may want to save ---------- Post added at 04:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:25 PM ---------- how are the front turn signals on the 73 lesabre?
Set out on my trip to pick up the Riv and half way out, the RR tire on the truck blew. Since the LR tire was my spare, I was SOL. Walked and hitch-hiked home. I threw this 4WD rim and tire I had kicking around into the back of my golf rescued my truck, put the golf on the back of the trailer and came home. To my wife's surprise, I pull up with my car on the back of the trailer instead of the Riv I set out to get. Not a very productive day. I'll try and get a/some tires for the truck and try again. I will keep you posted. p.s. anybody in my area have some 16's for cheap?
I'm sorry Man, but after reading this I just had to laugh. Story Of My Life. Rescue Mission Gone Bad. PONCH
I am currently combing the ads to find a couple tires for my truck. It seems that all that is available in truck tires are wide low profile boots, whereas I'm looking for tall skinnys. As you can see, that tire did a number on my truck.
Well, I dealt with my tire issues, and got the car home. The diff is a 10 bolt and unlikely a posi, with a ratio of approximately 2.73. This forum seems to have magically changed to "car part outs", so I don't have to start a new thread. Anybody interested in anything off this car, reply to this thread and I will do my best to answer questions, photograph parts, and give pricing of parts and shipping. However, my heath dictates when I can work, so it might be 2 hours, two days, or two weeks before I get to your order. I have taken a few extra pictures. BTW pretty well everything but the short block, is in the trunk.
Still Dibs on the floor mats, woodgrain dash plates, lower left dash plate, air vents, speedometer surround, plastic arm rest cover, trunk release button and bracket, connecting fibre optic cable to the fender turn signal indicators, small j hook that holds down the jack and a few more bits and pieces :TU: Can pm the prices
This car will be going to the shredder soon and there are a pair of 455 heads in the trunk. Anybody got some 401 heads they want to swap?
If you go back for the 73 LeSabre I could use the bumper strips (rubber bumper protectors) if they are not too bad, HOWever they are not easy to get off and are usually beat up on such cars. I need the Buick road wheels off the Riviera if you still have it or can get to them. Also, on the 73 LeSabre, the front turn signal covers which sit below the front bumper I can use those as they are always getting broken.
