Don't know enough about these to tell if it's real or not. Not mine. https://montana.craigslist.org/pts/6054582756.html
It probably is, but by then it was a paper exercise and there wasn't any real advantage. I think the handling package was marginally better. It's too bad this car is a wreck; - they're pretty rare now because they were not very popular in the day and values never recovered from the energy crisis.
The Stage 1 option in the Riviera was not the same parts package as the Stage 1 package in the A-body GSs. The Riviera GSs w/ Stage 1 option did not use the same carbs nor distributors as the A-body GSs w/ Stage 1 option and I believe the camshafts were less aggressive as well. I believe they did use the same big valve heads, though.
Question for Lucas is this car still for sale? My 74 riv is rotted beyond help. I need a complete car to restore mine. Is the body good? Are the panels rotted? Is the Stage 1 running. There will be a W in the vin designating a Stage 1 motor. All stage 1 motors had electronic ignition in 73 & 74 years standard. Mine is electronic. As per Ken he is right in what he says. My valves are 2 1/4 intake and 1 3/4 exhaust. Any Buick from 1974 is hard to find as there was a massive strike that went through GM right into GMC. Sales were below 1/2 for the model year. GM usually got out around 50,000 to 54,000 Rivieras but in 74 they got out exactly 20,197 Rivieras according to the Buick officiandos that I know in Detroit. If you watch this Lucas tell me about that car. Thank You, John
Hi, John. Was not my car. I just posted it as a lead. Since the posting isn't there anymore, I'd bet it either sold, the guy decided not to sell it, or he gave up. I had never seen the car and didn't know the owner. If you find something in this area you need someone to look at, I can usually go and look for members just to help them buy a car. Most fellas on here will do the same.
