1972 Buick Skylark Suncoupe with front disc brakes & Delco-Moraine Booster. This was a 10 year frame off restro with $40,ooo dollar worth receipts not incl all my labor body and mechanical. Steve Gregori did the restoration on the brake booster and it looked like new until the master cylinder leaked. And now the second one has leaked and the car has never been on the road. What is THE BEST master cylinder I can get? This is B.S. having to go thru this 2 times and now a third Master Cylinder & having the booster re done. Sorry about the rant but, I would like to drive it. Thanks guys. Rick Kennedy

So I did a complete brake replacement on my 71, including combo valve, all lines, booster, calipers, etc. Went through 5 master cylinders (and about 2 gallons of brake fluid bleeding them) before I got one that both worked and didn't leak. If I remember right, 2 of those leaked out of the back end, one leaked at the brake line joint and one didn't operate the rear brakes. I tried a number of different brands and the AC Delco leaked the worst. The one that finally didn't leak and worked correctly was an AutoZone duralast (the cheapest one I bought). The ones that leaked out the back took about a month to start showing. Master cylinders are kind of a hit or miss and I don't know why there is such poor manufacturing control on them. This was the biggest problem in my complete restoration and I invented a whole new list of curse words associated with master cylinders.

Should have sent the original to
White Post Restorations for a lifetime warranty. May be a little costly, but in the end will have actually cost less $$$$$
