And you can rest assured that's what's going to happen. :Smarty: I've been very forthcoming in the eBay listing and also in answering any questions both here off the board. Letting this thing fly without a reserve was no easy task. However, there's no turning back now. So, potential bidders have at it. As I stated in the auction description, if anyone has any questions or needs to see more pictures, feel free to contact me. :Comp:
It happens all the time, and I believe as long as it's not within 12 hours of the end of the auction, eBay allows the auction to be cancelled if "the item is no longer for sale" regardless of the reason. eBay is often used for the exposure of a vehicle, and most valuable cars never make it to the end of the auction, or have a reserve set so high it will never be met. This auction if definitely not the norm, and Brett is definitely not like most sellers! :TU: Good luck Brett!
For the more experienced Buick guys out there, I have a question. I know this is a fairly rare car, so what kind of $ would this take to get in restored condition? Would one be looking at $25,000 in resto work? Is that low or high? When it's complete, are we looking at a car worth $40,000+? Or is that way high? Just wondering? I've been watching this auction, since it hit Ebay. Thanks in advance!
Here's some pics of the car and some of the goodies that go with it. I'll post some more as the week draws to a close.
Ya your right, it is nice out here in Western Ma. Until we have a Tornado come through followed by a Hurracane. Luckaly we made it through both storms a lot better then most did. If the money tree grows soon I can put a bid in, but I don't think that is going to happen . Good Luck :TU:
Wow Brett both of our cars are listed at the same time. Never planned on selling mine and I know you had plans of restoring yours into your dream car !!! This is what our great economy is doing for us, sad times for the GS boys in MA.ou:
Agreed. While I may be having a liquidation sale, I'm not detaching myself from Buicks altogether. I'll be in the market for another one sometime down the road. I mean, hell, they made 101 of them, right? I'm sure I'll be able to find one.
I hope the sale goes well Brett. Sorry that you have to get rid of it. You were the first person here on the Board that I bought something from for my car when I got it back in 06. Pre heat tube elbow. It's almost finished thanks to people like you helping along the way! If I wasn't faced with a college-bound son, I'd be bidding!:beers2:
Thanks Kevin. If my memory serves me correct, didn't you have a silver bench seat 4-speed car? You're very welcome. :TU:
Easily 25000 bucks or up to 40000. Easily get back all and I mean all monies you tie up.....and more! Is a can't lose situation for you....if you are even interested. Easy one to do. Agree ahead of time that appraiser can guarantee all monies tied up is used. Done deal......in case. Appraisers all accept gratuities as needed.
Looks like Brett uploaded more of his NOS parts stash on the auction...wow! The parts alone are worth thousands.
I added a couple more pictures. I think I may have reached my allotment of photos on this listing. ou:
Brett I probably should have done this same thing with the Suncoupe and fgor those interested I have bought almost exactaly the same NOS parts including NOS fenders and a grille. I had my car body work done and am now close to having 50K invested still not finished. If I had waited to start now I probably would have used my parts and built a clone or found a 72 stage 1 missing the original engine in better shape. Short story is that this car can be restored and it can be parted out. A buyer has to decide how he will proceed with this one. Being 4 spd makes it more likely to be done. I can also see a rebody possible dependingb on who buys it. My guess is the VIN is recorded so if it shows up done on ebay in a month or two the a careful investigation by a prospective buyer would be warranted Good luck Brett the more you get the better ofr all 72 stage 1 owners. 72 prices are much lower than 70 and somewhat lower than 71 stage 1 cars. I really do not expect to recoup all my investment but I am not planning on selling either. Also Brett my VIN in on the face of the block pass side by the timing cover stamped vertically
