My GS is 3:42 no posi. Want to upgrade to 30 spline Eaton posi. Can anyone recommend after market axle manufacturers for 11-12 second potential performance?

    Thanks
    Brad

I ordered 30 spline 8.5 moser from JD race. he goes by monzaz here on the board.

but an 11-12 second car is fine factory 28 spline. I ran 10.90s of a 3800lbs car on them but did have to rotate often to prevent twisting. but at upper 11s I wouldnt worry about

I got my 28 splines from Monzas/JD Race - At high-mid 12's they are absolutely fine...

Since I don’t have posi, seems to make sense to go 30 spline posi and axles. Also 1350 pinion

Get the "race alloy" if you go with moser, their standard alloy is made from butter

I think I had some 700 in my axles and spool, posi would be a touch more

700 US is a lot more in Canadian pesos! Lol

All money well spent. This GS project is a family project to involve grandson and both son in laws and daughters - keeps the car hobby alive.

ims not sure what a posi runs. I haven't built anything street in many years. you can call Jim at 330-990-8155, I'm sure he can get you a total price on posi, gears, bearing install kit and axles. whatever you need. I agree. enter to do things once.....but 30 spline is over kill for low 12s high/11s

I think that a Eaton style Yukon can be had for less than 300.00 these days, I believe thats what JD Race and Everyday Performance are selling. I've heard they work well. For me, I use GM 408 posi' s which generally trade for about 150.00-250.00 before rebuild...

573510D6-0006-4B8B-AA06-3A791377C182.jpeg Thanks everyone. It maybe over kill, but I’m going Eaton 30 spline posi, either moser axles or mark williams, a 1350 pinion......want to be able to run slicks, have no issues. Control arms have been built, just deciding what bushings to use.

I did the same years ago. Bought a 1971 GS350 8.5 rear from BrunoD. Bought a new Eaton 30 spline Posi, and 3.73 Yukon gears. Got in touch with Monzaz. He gave me a Purchase Order # from one of his invoices from Moser. I called them, referenced the invoice # and said, "give me a pair of these". Took it all to Freddy Brown on Long Island, and they put it all together for me. That was almost 12 years ago. Must have 20 12 second and 30 11 second passes on it. I also threw a TA cover on it and painted it black.

I had several thousand passes between 11.50s and 12.50 on stk axles and slicks, only started twisting them when I went for the 10s

Since you don’t have a posi now,it only makes sense to get everything 30-spline. The posi is the same price, and the axles are the same price. Do it once and be done. You can get them from me,Jim,or straight from Moser.

Monzaz has a moser 30 spline axle package, Eaton 30 spline posi coming my way. Putting the moser 1350 pinion yoke on as well. Thanks Monzaz

455 powered. I really was not trying to put you on the spot...BUT if we do not tell guys what is correct or not then we are kind of at fault too.
So this being the forum and others MIGHT search stuff it is a good thing to have on the site too.
I certainly see our share of oil downs from high dollar cars and SOME of those guys are very bad at keeping there parts together too. AS just because you have money does not mean your putting the parts together right either. THAT is why we say to stay at the test and tune nights cause that is when the GUYS /GALS that come out with the watch this cars... Bracket racing is a index race where you do have to have a fast car to win it is a CONSISTENT car and a dead on tree that wins whether the car is a 18sec ride or a 9 sec door slammer or a 7sec dragster.... WE are all trying to hit a number ...it has nothing to do with the car next to you except for the tree and the time they put on the car they are to run. The cars are handi capped at the tree and if both cars run the number and hit the same tree light it will be a TIE.

Bracket racing in point is not a speed fast car ego ...it is a WINNING ego. car that hits every points race and gets as many points they can wins the season.

So Have your fun. take into consideration some of the stuff we mentioned about safety and do the best you can. :) Jim

    J D Race

You need a price on a rear I will quote you out one. spool will be less money than a posi and hold up to WAY more power.

46A51CEC-ACF9-41B0-AC69-4F2F9853577D.jpeg Pulled the rear and all suspension out of back of the GS with help from my son in law, grandson. Then thought....may as well do some clean up and prep to paint underside of back half so out came fuel tank and exhaust. Will put a new tank in as well.
