    alec296 i need another buick

Bring the timing up to around 8-10 and see how it performs, the mallory electronic conversion kit is decent and not to bad to install in a stock distributer

Carlisle72 . . .But, these go to eleven.

I brought it up to 10* the other day.. it liked that. I'll check out the Mallory kit, too. Thanks, Andy! p.s. I see you're in Bridgeview, I'm right over in Aurora.. might see you around at a cruise/show!

If you have the original part number 1112109 distributor (check your part number), it has between 12 and 16* of mechanical advance. Optimal full throttle advance is about 32*. If you set the total advance to 32*, the initial will take care of itself. The only problem might be your initial timing could be as high as 20* (do the math). That might make it hard to crank when it is hot.

Hey Larry, it does have that distributor. I brought it up to 10* initial, per your recommendation earlier on in this thread, and I've been reading your power timing thread to make sure I have a full grasp of the different advances and ideal timing at different RPMs. I do have a dial back light, I just need a day where my helper/wife and I are both free to go through it. Thanks for the information, as always.
