That red 4 speed car has been for sale for almost 2 years. He has listed it in WA, OR, ID & at times in BC Canada.

It is a real factory 455 4 speed car Built in Freemont as a Red & black car with 3.08 posi.

Interesting. I float most the Northwest Craigslists everyday, can't believe I've missed it. Wonder what the hold up is on it selling?

What a douche, must see in person only? No phone calls. No wonder he still has the car.

  9. was 3.08 the standard ratio for a 4 speed in 71-72? I know in 68-70 it was 3.42 and in 65-67 it was 3.36. 3.08 with a wide ratio trans seems odd.

    For 70 models a 70 a GS455 with automatic trans was 2.93 non-posi standard.

Comments I received from another member who was considering it:
"The interior needs work on seats, door panels, and carpeting. The paint has a lot of chips and the car probably needs to be repainted. For what they want I feel the car needs too much work."

Thanks, Chris. I figured you'd know about this car :)

  13. true but a 4 speed got a deeper gear in every year. 3.08 is the standard ratio for an auto equipped 71-72 GS auto as well.

per the 71 service manual, 3:08 was the standard rear for the 350 4 speed manual tranny

    455 4 speed was standard with 3:42

The guy has a build sheet for this car

  15. Interesting, I learned new stuff today

I know the owner, he's a GREAT guy. Just lives way out of reach to any internet access and barley has cell service. He has a friend of his son's trying to sell it for him. If I had the cash, this one would be in my garage !! I know a little bit of the history of the car, it has never been outside of the high desert area of WA. St. For those unfamiliar with this area it is a very dry arid climate, rust is a NON issue.
Yes, the car has it's minor flaws and is not a 100% Barrett car, but it is a fantastic Friday night cruiser.
I have been trying to convince him for the last two years to keep it, but he would like to clear the barn of a few cars, and this is on that list.

70buickboy have you seen the car in person & can you speak to the quality of the paint & condition of the vinyl top?

    Thanks

I have not seen it yet, only the pics on CL. I work for the Red Cross as a "Vampire" and he has been one of my regular donor's for the past 7 years. We are scheduled to be in his town on Sept 7th, but i'm not on that run unless I can switch with someone. He doesn't drive it often, I will try and work out a switch so I can get back up there.
