    Uh, what?
BBB would have a different frame than a SBB. All BBB had th400 or manual trans. The gas pedal, steering shaft are good indicators as are the disc brakes. On a 71 numbers matching drive train are needed unless you can find the build sheet or someother paperwork. Want some headaches try to prove your GSX is real in 71 without paperwork:af:

Look at the partial VIN on the side of your 350 Trans. See if it matches your car.

If it is a auto trans car and no one has changed the trans cross member, the big block car will have a hole for the brake cable whereas the small block will not.

Everything you guys are talking about are easily changed items and would not be good proof for the car. (Other then looking for a partial vin on the trans.)

If its a coupe (with no drivetrain) the only real info to use would be the frame numbers. 71 BB coupes have different frame numbers then SB coupes.

If you can't find the Vin # on the frame, you can be pretty sure it is the correct one by checking the date code of the frame vs the date on the ID plate on the firewall.

Chances are the frame was not changed.

What about a 4 speed car ? All are Big Block cars? I'm looking at 71 GS now it has a 455 (non matching) w/auto in it now but was told the car had a 4sp in it at new, he has some of the 4sp stuff( no trans ) Thanks Ron

Compare the partial Vin on the passenger side of the Muncie near where the tailshaft mates to the VIM for the car.

Also post the ACC. ("accessory") codes, if it has them, from the cowl tag under the hood on the driver's side.

Look to see if the speedometer has a PDR window in it.

HI Mark, Above all I hope you are recovering well from your surgery. Car is secondary but a nice diversion.:TU:

    Hey Dave,
Thanks much. Ya just hanging out till I can function without narcotics. Been on them pretty much for abut three years now. It isn't nice getting the body cleaned up after all this time. But, on the really bright side, No more surgeries and after a fake leg gets fitted I will be good to go!!! Got these cars sitting there just begging to get worked on! At least my son got the brown 70 Stage out of storage and cleaned it all up for when I can drive again!! I think really he did it cause he wanted to go to cruise ins and his 2010 Camaro was in the shop getting a charger installed for a couple of weeks. Hopefully I can make it to Columbus this year too!!
