Not sure of the stripes and all that, but know from the stories he tells, "the lights are just a top chrome piece they used to put on there cars when he was younger to make the headlights look cooler, (snap/snap off) like a lowrider theme, and over time he did them black and left them on the car. the wheels, he ordered long ago, when the huge rear tire was the fad and left them on the car. The yellow GS beside it was his dads car, and the white is the one he went out and brought, so keeping dads car and selling his.

Documentation would be helpful, if available. If not, is it numbers match? And a picture of the cowl tag would go a long way to indicating whether or not it may be real. The '71's are tough w/o paper unless it was sold in Canada originally (in which case documentation can be had).

    Nice looking car, regardless.

Why dont you go back there and get pic of the vin and cowl tag and end all the speculation .Bet if its just a GS no one will be wanting it for 15k.:TU:

I personally, would have an issue with someone taking pictures of my cars vin and cowl tag info. I shared what i know and just put the word out, to some people (V8 buick) that i thought would be interested. No problem with a few pictures of the car and giving the guys name and number out to who ever hits me up on private message, for it, but thats it. The rest would have to be asked to him

The reason the guys are asking for the vin and ID tag pics for this particular car is so they can rule out whether it is a 71 SCO car or not.

If it is not an SCO car then it could not be a GSX..............therefore by identifying the time period when the car was built (from both the vin # and the body tag info) they will know whether to persue this or not.

You wouldn't even need to include the entire vin, ie leave the last 3 digits "xxx" or something. Taking a pic of the body tag would not hurt the owner at all.

Regardless, even if everything else is correct, all this will prove is whether it is a SCO car or not, NOT A GSX.

Currently the only way to prove a car is a 71 GSX is with either a buildsheet or documentation from GM of Canada, if it was originally sold there, or if someone knowledgeable looks at a car with original paint and can verify the stripes were real..........and there is more to it then simply looking at the stripes.

That's it, anything else is merely a hopeful guess.

I'm with you and totally understand that. Just when it comes to that type of stuff rather it be directly through him. when first met him i asked the same kinda of questions and after a few,(Lol) he got kinda irritated with me, so since i just left it alone.

Well like everyone has said, he will need to show the vin & trim plate to any potential buyer.
A serious buyer will be asking to see that info. Also the interior looks to be put together with missed match panels.
The upper rear seat is not correct either, I'm sure over the years things have been changed around.
The car looks to be solid but it will need a lot to be put together correctly.

    Just my opinion.................:Comp:

As someone who posts leads all the time, you guys need to stop busting Big B's balls to get pics and more info. Get it yourself!!!!!!!!!

He was providing a lead, not selling a car. Doing other members here a FAVOR with getting them the contact info for a possible GSX. If you guys are interested in the car, contact the owner! Don't expect Big B to do your homework for you!!!!!

Thanks for posting the lead Big B!

    Chris,
Do you have any idea how many people "I have done all the homework for" when they want to buy a car?????????????????

Half the time when a GSX comes up for sale I get calls..........and now another trend is happening...........I get calls about the same cars when they come up for sale again.
    Duane

PS. As stated in my earlier post, you need a lot more then a vin number to ID these cars. That is unless the vin shows it was not from Flint, as that would knock it out right there.

    I can only imagine!

That is probably why you don't post leads for cars, just creating more work for yourself, lol!

Maybe it should state, "Chris, do you know how much homework you've made me do over the years????"
