    I am finalizing pricing on a 1971 Buick GS 455 Car. I am looking to validate if it may be a stage 1 car. The car was built in Fremont CA. The Engine code on the build sheet is SK. The reason I am asking is it will affect my final offer regarding price if it is a Stage 1 car. Either way I will be purchasing the car. Any information you can provide would be great.

    Your build sheet shows that it has the L74 engine option. That is a GS455, not a Stage 1. If it had the Stage 1 option, it would be an L75 code.

    Most if not all 71 Stage cars were built in Flint. Maybe a few were not but I am always suspicious.

    1971 Stage 1's by factory

    Flint = 612 coupes, 81 Convertibles
    Framingham = 56 coupes, 0 convertibles
    Freemont = 133 coupes, 0 convertibles.
