Interesting that the car is listed in Los Angeles, but the city is noted as Gig Harbor (WA) and it has WA plates, but the guy didn't list it on WA Craigslist.

And he says he can assist with shipping to the LA area.

What I find interesting is reading the tea leaves on these CL ads - the guy selling sounds like a flipper only. If it was a guy that is giving up on a project, that's usually the pitch. But nothing about that here - just that he ran the numbers to determine the value and set his price at $14,500. Curious what flippers like this pay for these cars and how they find them in the 1st place to flip?

NOT apples to apples but I found a 1988 Reatta Select 60 near me for sale for $1500, offered and purchased for $1000, then determined I wanted a different car and sold for $700! (1988 Reatta Select 60, 1 of 60)

You suppose this guy finds this barn find GS and offer $2000 to the family? Just curious what THEY pay for these cars.

Sounds more like a scam than a flipper to me.

You usually ask what the seller wants and then use a proprietary mathematical formula I came up with to determine a counter offer. You basically take the number the seller gives you, subtract 50% and then divide by 2.

UHH Why not just divide by 4?

They can just pay me to take it away too:D

Speaking of 71 Stage 1 4 speeds......I spoke to the guy that owns your old brown 71. I looked at it a few years ago. It was a real mess and the guy was stuck on $10g's for it. I went to his house the other day to check on it. See if anything was done on it and if he was still stuck on his number. Turns out he took the engine out to rebuild it. He got all the machining done and the project stalled. So now its still a mess but a disassembled mess. And he now wants over 20k for it

Hind sight is I should have kept that car. Was a fun ride. When I let it go all it needed was a little work in the qtrs. Engine had been rebuilt prior to me getting it.

Fred, remember we are talking about Jason here. He can cut a number in half as many times as he likes, since he has two hands, but when it comes to cutting it into quarters, now you are getting "feet" math, and nobody wants to see Jason use his feet for that complicated math!

I owned a true 71 455 4 speed car. Bench seat and no air. Kicking my own ass every day for selling it. Oh well, I will have to settle for my documented 455 Stage 1 car.

Follow me from behind and it's easy to tell how much I have kicked my own ass for letting some go. 1970 Gulfstream Blue GS455, 1970 GSX, 1970 GS455 convertible w/buckets and air. All are in good hands which makes me feel a little better.

X2 on that! And I have only owned about 50 Buicks, I am sure Jason's number is much higher.

If you look closely at my aviatar you will see what was once in my yard. There's actually more, but the picture got cropped. About 20 mostly GS's in that pic.
