Years ago,we sold a correct carb for $2500 when they weren't hardly available..I just seen a post last week for ne for $1500 bucks. It had a couple incorrect pieces, but I am sure it would be way less that $2000 to find the right pieces. BTW Mike, weren't you the one who located the 71 Stratomist Blue GSX down south? If it was,Thank You for helping me get the right trans and motor back with the car..
This hobby is getting way too costly when these parts bring more than you can buy a whole car for. I guess that I always sell too cheap because I want to help others out. It’s not about the money but for the love of the hobby. I guess that is changing
Unfortunately the price cuts both ways. I know the owner of the carb and he had to pay dearly for it unrestored then pay for restoration at which time the carb was damaged in return shipment so then was delivered locally to avoid shipping damage again. On a high dollar car it will pay for itself but just one of those things
Just for the record this is not the stage one carburetor that I have that was damaged in shipping. Good luck trying to find a 70 stage one for $2500.
I get it, but things like this make me feel good I'm ok with putting an 850 double pumper on something.....
Oh, I wasn't bashing what you want for your carb, I'm sure it's easily worth it to someone. Was just saying I feel lucky I'm one of the guys that doesn't mind putting something on that costs $500 for a new one that works as well if not better (let's not turn this into a carb bashing thread). I totally get having the right part on the right car for a resto. I'm just not one of those guys that will pay up to do so.
Not a problem, agree on the carburetor bashing The carburetor is for sale as a set with the distributor for a best offer not a firm price .
Well if both the carb and distributor are included in the deal, that makes it a pretty good deal then. When we sold the Stag 1 carb to a guy in Texas,e stated he has $50,000 into the car and what was $2500 more...
