Has anyone had experience correctly reproducing the "felt" look that was applied by the factory to the bottom and sides of the interior compartment of the center console in a 1970 Skylark GS?

I am referring to the interior compartment of the center console and not the "fuzzies" that sandwich the gear selector arms.

Any help or guidance on how to properly restore this area of the console would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Philip

I haven't done it yet, but the way to go would be a spray adhesive and some kind of flocking material, which should be available at craft stores.

I am planning to do the compartment on a console from a Riviera. I have researched a bit and found this product. I have no experience with it, but unless I learn of a better approach, I'll be trying it this winter.

Did this to my shorty console last year. Short of installing a fabric I found very good results with a flexible coating. has a raised grain , similar but not identical to the original felt finish. I believe too that the original finish was sprayed on.
can I have shows them from Canada, they may have distributors in the US as well.
Product is Kolor Koating - Black 1101.

    covering for console

Go to an auto trim shop or a supplier of trim shops and ask for trunk felt lining. it is cheap and very flexible. Come in several colors. If you can't find this product let me know I have a roll of it. Ken :Brow: :Brow: :Brow:

Use the flocking material found at craft stores. This is the closest to factory I could find. A good 3M spray adhesive should be used to get an even coating.
