Don't know how I've missed all this. Great thread. I saw the original post when he got the car but never knew there was a whole build going on it. Awesome work and I agree about the doggies. Of all the wheels I've had on my car the doggies get the most comments.
Very cool car !! The only thing I would change is drop the 455 decal and the shinny valve covers. Get a 350-2 decal and put stock steal valve covers on it and rack in the $$$$$$$ no one other than Buick guys would even question you.
Nice catch! A "hustler" lid for the aircleaner is on the shelf ready to deploy and a set of unfresh looking ,tin 100k mile factory valve covers too...the intake looks too nice when those are on it!

Quick Update for the Street Sleeper build. I decided to upgrade the NO2 and ignition control for efficiency and safeguards. I swapped out the MSD 6AL for a Mallory Hyfire VI. It is concealed in the same location. The Mallory integrates with the NO2 system electronics and the unit is programmable to retard the timing when the NO2 triggers, and controls the NO2 to only trigger in a set rpm window range and provides the rpm limit control all in one unit. In conjunction with the Mallory, a Omron momentary swicth is installed at the clutch pedal and also integrated in the electronic controls to open the NO2 circuit immediately as the clutch is depressed to assure the NO2 does not operate on unloaded engine. I also added a fuel pressure regulator in the secondary fuel supply to assure the wet shot maintains consistent 6.0 fuel psi. I ordered a Hurst line lock kit and a shifter T handle with the button for the line lock control. This feature will be hard to conceal but I have a plan inspired by my current Hurst T handle which is wrapped in black leather. I have a pal at an auto upholstery shop who is going to make me a custom handle cover that will conceal the button. As for the wire, my pal can make a matching leather wrap for the 5035 which would conceal the wire but I have not decided yet. Its too wet to test drive today, maybe next weekend. Time to tailgate now for the SEAHAWKS NFC Championship game. GO HAWKS!
Thanks Louie, I wanted to try to document the whole build for posterity and share any lessons learned for others. It is very rewarding now considering the few times I was ready to scrap it in the early process since the PO's really raped it. I am saving to build a stout rear end now before I abuse the NO2 as I am certain my current rear wouldn't handle too many launches nor much spray in a track setting. It should suffice for some street terrorizing in the meanwhile. My goal is to have a new rear ready to install by April at the latest. Cheers! GO HAWKS!
this weekend I installed the Hurst line lock, fabbed the new brake lines, ran the wires, button handle, light and mounted the solenoid on the inner fender at the factory cruise control location. I plan to paint the solenoid black to help to blend it in. I can not wait to upholster the shift handle and knob to conceal the controls. Next stop is heading for dyno tuning Saturday week after Superbowl 2/7. Hope for surviving several pulls. Go HAWKS!!!
I plan to fab a smoked Plexiglas radio delete plate which will allow view to Mallory box in the photo but conceal it from lookers. This is the leather wrapped HURST handle in the photo.
Hey Chris, I have a pal who has a speed shop in Silverdale who has a pal with a speed shop & dyno in Port Orchard. My pal is going to help me with the tune, we just rent the dyno. When I recall the name of the shop with a dyno I'll update this.

Props for your mad skilz! Isn't that an 8.5 10 bolt under there in the pix? Some new gears, axles and a 30 spline yukon differential would be way cheaper and almost as strong as the 12 bolt. Plus if that is from the 71-72 it should have bolt in axles. If it is the 8.2 then I would look for a 71-72 skylark or cutlass to get an 8.5 from. Just more budget friendly to me. Keep up the great work!
