Hey Guys, I just picked up a 1970 Buick Skylark Custom from a buddy of mine.

-Overall the car is solid. Looks to have been hit on the right rear corner and the dent was pulled out but not repaired entirely. From the insde of the trunk it looks solid still,

-Only things altered so far are:
    • AC compressor was removed
    • looks like someone installed a 67 rearview side mirror. I want to get the sport mirrors
    • Dash cluster swapped for a later flat faced cluster that has column shift. (Car currently has the original center shift & console)
    • I personally helped the previous owner swap the 2bbl for a Poston 350 intake I had. Topped it with a new Edelbrock 650 cfm or 750cfm I dont recall.
My plans are to update the suspension and evaluate the brakes lines since it is older but it stops really well at the moment. Basically make a sweet Daily Driver and add the Holley Sniper EFI. The FI kits have gone down in price and that is a super nice package.

I want to also go ahead and do a CAM swap. one from TA along with an HEI conversion. I really want to get rid of the Mechanical Fan & Clutch and go with an aluminum Radiator and electric fans to free up some HP left on the table. I will also be dialing in the timing. as of now it runs fine but I am pretty sure setting the timing will wake it up.

    Here are some questions

    1. 1970 2bbl 350 = how much compression? I was under the impression that the 68-70 2bbl had 9.5 with the only difference in Compretion ratio vs the SP block / GS350 being the pistons. Someone told me I still had only like 8.5 due to head gaskets?
    2. Does the 350 also like total timing in @ around 32*?
    3. Anyone swap in a TA 290 , or TA 284 cam into one of these in stock form? I know they either require a valve spring change or stall. What is the most sensible cam to throw into it IF it is the 9.5 compression 350.
    4. I have the Poston intake on it. I have heard about the desing flaw of some of the runners being to close and have heard about milling the center divider. This one seemed to have already been milled down a bit. It wasn't really high. Should I add a 1 inch spacer to help it? as is the engine seems fine but if I can gain performance or make the intake more efficient I can add it on.
Now I am also on the hunt for some parts now that I have this baby. Here is what I was thinking of throwing on in case any of you fine gentlemen have some parts laying around.
    • Stage 2 Scoop
    • GS Grill
    • Rear Tail Lamp lenses
    • Right Rear side marker Housing and lens
    • Buick Sport Steering Wheel
    • TA intake
I will be uploading picture of the Progress as well. I created a spreadsheet on google sheets if you guys want to take a look at my TO-DO list and see my plans for it. I would like suggestions.

I started by taking out the seats and am going to be pulling the carpet soon to get started.

Finally back to owning a Buick!
