It's not a Buick, but I was curious about the power sunroof. Was that grafted in? or was it available as an option. Can't find any mention of a sunroof option that year. If it's factory, this would be a rare ride... https://vermont.craigslist.org/cto/6678270422.html
I didn't notice the glass. I know they showed up not long after as my '72 or'73 (can't remember) Centurion had a vinyl top and a vinyl covered sunroof.
72 was the first year, Electra coupes, one 4 door Electra and Riviera's were the only ones built with them and the numbers are very small. Records do not show a Centurion being built with one in 72
Pulled the records, (1) 4 door Electra, (112) Electra Coupes. and (1175) Rivieras. The 4 door Electra was the Limited ll show car
I love that the crests are right way up on the Beige cars hubcaps. Now that's attention to detail! The carpeting in the Beige car is really out there. I doubt it made it to production.
They took the worst 72 color (Sierra Tan) and added gold fleck and pearl to it. In my younger days I always used a bottle jack to make the emblems on the wheels all upright as much as possible at shows - OCD lol
When we set up cars and trucks for auto shows, Detroit, LA, NYC, we have to center all the wheel caps. Same thing on photo shoots.
It's too bad the photog didn't wait until all those pretty girls were no longer blocking portions of the cars before snapping that pic. I'm trying to figure out what wheels that Centurion was wearing. Edit: Upon further review, I believe that's a dude blocking my view of the Centurion. Now I am pissed!
Chances are the current owner of the car fabbed in a modern glass unit to replace the pop-up screwed in jobs we all used back in the 80s. Those pop-up ones were all the rage at JBs Automotives and other cheap accessory and speed shops back in the day. They also leaked like no tomorrow too. So maybe this guy got one of those, after all, it says the car was from Tennessee originally.... (just kidding!)
I have been searching for close 18 years for the Limited II or anything about it, I have some build tidbits and those 2 pictures. I own the negative and print of the black and white one. The car was offered to a friend of mine 0probably 25 years ago and after that it disappeared
Take a look at the pic of the driver's door jamb of the "Limited II" and notice lack of the GM certification (meets all DOT requirements, etc.).
