    Hi All,

I am new to this forum and had a question about a car that I am looking to purchase. I've been an Oldsmobile guy my whole life, aside from a 1972 GS 350 I owned years back so I am looking for advice. The car in question is supposedly a 1970 GS 455 Stage 1. It is all apart and has the paperwork and they tell me it has the original drive train. Due to rust the frame was replaced, painted with all new lines, brakes, etc and a donor car was purchased for everything else. It needs the complete interior, front fenders and bumpers at a minimum and obviously to be put back together and painted. He is looking for 18k, is this worth it for this car. I was originally a green car with black vinyl roof. Also any help as t what I need to look at/for would be appreciated. I'm guessing that the value and collectibility of this would be on par with an Olds W30?

    Thank you all, Jim

You didn't say if it is a 4 speed or an auto? 4 speeds command a higher value, but either way it sounds expensive, but would need more details to know for sure. For example, has the drivetrain been rebuilt, are all correct #'s matching parts there, does the rear of the car need any body work, etc.

Going by what the seller stated (I haven't looked at the car yet, going this weekend) it is an auto, the motor was rebuilt and is all matching numbers except the for the carb which is missing. The rear of the car is all metal and doesnt need anything.

My .02 the car isn't as clean as the one I have and it was around 10 k if the frame was rusted then the rest of the car will.have rust. As far as an Olds W 30 I'm going to say yes almost the same. Keep.in mind that green and Brown cars Olds and Buick don't bring the money a red car would.
I think 18k is way too high for this car. The carb will.set you back around 2500.00 look.around on here and do a search on 70 stage cars.
My car is also missing its carb and I value it at 10k numbers match eng and trans
