I have heard on billions and trillions, and I've never heard anything good. I think that is how much he wants to make on every sale.
Dig a little deeper, you may find other user names and a lunatic.

Tri-City in Elizabethton, Tn is the way to go. Look up "Billions and Trillions" on this Board before you touch a Tar Baby.

I'm going to jump in on this topic...

Has anyone ever been told that the metal is too thin to plate again? I had an insurance job done years ago and I was told that the metal was too thin to properly repair and plate (the insurance repair is the very last time I can get the bumper re-plated, is what they mean). So now I have some apple seed sized pits at the sharp corner of the rear bumper that have been chromed over.

I have seen on Chevy and Mopar forums that most people are happy with Tri-City and that they have replacements in stock (pending make/model availability of course). Those of you that have gone to Tri-City, have you had any repairs done? or just a straight chrome job. In particular, has anyone had straightening done? In addition to my pitting, the center top edge is very close to the deck lid compared to the outboard edge, what happened is the center point (looking down from the top of the bumper) was pushed in too far and now my gaps are off.

Sorry for the hijack, but it does pertain to the same thing. Thanks.

Sure and Tri City will also reject some bumpers for this reason. They use a hammer and a dolly to do any re-shaping but there are no jigs. So you are better off making the changes and test fitting your bumper before you send it off.

Post a picture. It may be obvious that it will not pass for re-chroming.

Based upon past experience Tri City is not going to have GS bumpers in stock.

Gary, my best recommendation is to provide the plater with the best possible core you can get your hands on. I don't need to tell you that the more involved they have to get repairing your cores, the more expensive it gets. Its not like its a one off car. good 70 Skylark bumpers are out there. In the long run you'll be better off

I would like to get my bumpers chromed some day myself. I had someone tell me to use the place in Melbourne FL.

Shipping has really gone up. From Tri City to me in NC used to cost $75.00 at Tri City's rate.

Send them some good pictures first. The rust bumps you describe are the kind of thing that may disqualify the bumper. They give a lifetime warranty so they are not going to chrome a badly pitted core.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

Chrome work keeps going up !!! I have a few sets of 70 rechromed but I also have cores that I have not had done yet. I should have had them all done before now but things just don't work out that way sometimes. Going to cost me more now that I waited.

Yeah, I need to get my back one re-done. It was backed into by "someone" and there is a dent in the bumper. Not bad but definitely noticeable.
