Anyone have pictures of how this item is supposed to be installed? I bought one on Ebay (In the original GM box,) and it has all parts needed to install it, but I cannot find it in my Manuals. Does anyone already have one that I can get pictures of? My car is all electric everything and I want to do it right. Thanks for any help. George
Wow! How did I miss that on ebay??? Could you PM me and let me know what something like that cost you? I've been trying to add factory correct options to my car like the passenger mirror, maplight, power bucket seats, etc.
could you post a photo of that so I can compare to one I have that was supposed to be out of vert? I have never verified mine.
I paid $365 for it. Since these are supposed to be very rare, I thought that was a good deal at the time. Now I just need to see how to correctly install it.
I have never put pictures on here yet so am not sure how. I can take digital shots and e-mail them to you. I would have to unbox the stuff and spread it out on the floor. Is that what you are looking for?
I believe the factory shop manual shows the installation. If not any A-body conv manual will have the installation in it.
Try checking the Fisher Body manual for 71 or 72. I think it was installed at the body plant, so is covered in it
Here are some pics from my friend's '71 GS.....Note the dash plate. Hope this helps. Dan http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=54777&highlight=convertible+rear+defroster
Fisher manual I'm not finding it in the 70 Chasis service manual OR in the 70 Fisher Body Service manual..
My 70 GS455 conv. has the rear defrost option. Do any of you need any photos of the parts or grille? I have the grille, ductwork and motor/fan out as I have a new top ready to install. The grille is similar to the 69 style hardtop grille and fits in the boot near the seatback.
I would check the 71 or 72 Fisher manual for the convertible rear defrost. If the option was new for 70, it might not have made it to the manual till 71 or 72. I have seen the option in the Fisher manual in the rear defroster section.
I have 71/72 assembly manual, chassis manual, fisher body manuals....there are no good diagrams, best would be to get pics from an already installed system. Good find, very uncommon option. later Tim
convt. rr defroster Dave, If not too much trouble, I would like to see a pic or two of the parts for the defrost set-up. Particularly interested in the duct that connects the blower housing to the grille. Thanks, in advance, Matt
Matt: I'll get a few photos and send 'em along. Working through the weekend, so give me a couple days.
R Defrost ragtop I would like to see those rear defrost pics as well, my 70 GS455 Ragtop could benefit from such a setup considering I live in Maine and we only have about 2 weeks of usable convertible weather !!!! Gary carguy455@yahoo.com
Matt & Gary: I have the photos, I'll take them to work and try to downsize and mail from there. I may not be able to downsize there, if not, do you want me to send direct to your email? If so, I'll need the address'. I can downsize at home tonight and send to this group otherwise.
Hi George, My '72 Drop top has this option. I've been looking for the grille for almost 20 years. The original owner had the a new top and well liner installled. And the stupid installers frogot to put the grill back on. I thought that 1970 Rear defogger option wasn't available. Not till 1971 and 1972 was this option available. I could be wrong. I have all the manuals for 1972 and all the parts books for 1970 to 1972. I will look again tonight to double check. Here are a few pictures that might help. If someone has a grille for sale. Please let me know. Bert
