    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

Go check out the thread "Stage 1" about this car. I'm on my phone and can't post links right now, but it's about 10 posts down from this one right now.

I don't know the history of the car, but I'm pretty sure it's got more than 24K on it! It's missing the crossbars, the rr sway bar, the boxed control arms, washer hoses, wrong mirrors...spotted that stuff quick!

FWIW, Pontiac did not make a Catalina in 1984.

'Blue' plates started in 1970ish, if a car had any issues in its life california would issue 'new' plates, old plates means it's been continuously registered....to me it add's some value if there current....one step below black plates I guess

A sway bar is easy to install; also, isn't the mirror right with it being a remote mirror optioned car?

Anyways, outside of that stuff, does the car look like a nice car? Is it price high for what it is?

Well...it does look like a nice car. You have to forget the Stage 1 clone crap, that's hype. It's a GS 455. The 24K stuff is doubtful, the car hasn't been driven since 2000. That's 30-31 years unaccounted for with 24K? Think about that for a minute! The stuff can be fixed, but it adds up very fast. It's what you can't see that you have to worry about. The mirror? It should have a tri-shield stamped on it. They are very hard to find, one year only, not re-pro'ed, and very EXPENSIVE. Like $500.00-600.00 up new. This is why we're pointing the stuff out to you. It depends how fussy you are, too. At a cruise nobody will know. At a Buick event, people will say wow...nice car...too bad about the mirror, though! I bought my car off ebay. It looked great in the pics, the seller told me how wonderful the car was, yada...yada. Like a moron, I bought the car on impulse sight unseen and uninspected. I probably overpaid 5K for the car, and now put as much into it as I paid for it. That said...it's killer now, taken 1st or best of show every time out. But I'm way upside down on it. Don't buy on impulse, go and look at it or pay somebody to look at it. Get a member here to get eyes on it. It can be a 5K difference between good and bad. I think it's at least 5K high at 39K. If it's REALLY 24K it's worth more. I would be thinking 35 down.

Frank's right - at the very least, have someone look at it. Not everyone is as honest as you'd like to think they are.

Yeah, that's why I was curious if anyone has seen it in person. Pictures can be made to make almost anything look good, and not being able to see it in person is quite the risk.
