What was the differences between the custom and the regular skylark?
    Anyone have production numbers?
Mines a bucket seat colum shift car, is that rare?

Also what do I need to make my custom a Gs clone?

I know the hood, grill and a few emblems, anything else?
I have a gsx hood on it now with patched tach hole, is it worth anything? May get a unpatched Gs hood.

    Thanks!

A regular skylark was only with 2 bbl 350, or the six cyl. -what I know of.
Also, you couldn't buy a Skylark convertible, only a Skylark Custom convertible.. (makes no sense)
The '70 GS, had an extra 350 4bbl option, with Higher compression. It made 310 Hp, versus 285Hp with the 'normal' 350 4bbl.

The hoods are not easy to get hold of, so stick with it. Its possible to buy a glassfiber GS hood for around 600 bucks.
As far at the cloning, I think thats all, but I'm not sure if the GS came with colum shift.
I'm not sure if its rare with the seat/colum...

The production numbers are somewhwere on the net, just search for em..

    Good Luck!!!

Interriors of the 1970 Skylark customs are different than the regular Skylark. The customs had the delux "waffle" style interrior with the steering wheel that had the big rectangular horn button.

Customs had the long arm rests like the GS.

I have also noticed that the custom has extra chrome pieces on the trunk lip and the corner pieces next to the trunk. Also, the custom was more likely to be optioned with the chrome pieces around the wheelwells, as well as different lower side trim (wider compared to the regular skylark piece). These are just observations from what I have owned and seen around. Of course these cars were made 30+ years ago and things may have been added or removed from the cars I have seen considering I have only been paying attention to Buicks for the last few years.

my custom has the woodgrain door panels with cloth above and the vinyl at the top...the gs's i believe got the all vinyl panels, what did the skylarks get?

Mine has the all vinyl Gs style door panels, Legendary shows them and they are the same.
I also have the gs style wheel well moldings and the moldings on the trunk/quarter end caps.
I think I just have to change the custom logos off the door panels in favor of GS.
