Can anyone tell me what the stock rear end gear ratio is for a 1970 Buick Skylark Custom with a 2bbl 350 and auto tranny is, or where I can find it?

    Thanks

you have a 308 gear and a 350 tranny if nobody has changed it.

    2.56 standard

    3.23 performance

    3.91 and 2.73 trailer options

Look at your code on the axle tube -pasenger side upper front close to the hogshead.

You can always check it yourself too.

Just jack both sides of the rear up under the differential and put jackstand under the axle tubes (or at the axle end of the lower trailing arms). Mark a spot on the axle. Have someone slowly give the tire one complete rotation (mark a spot on the tire at 12 or 6 o'clock, or whatever o'clock is your favorite). Count how many times the axle turns in one rotation of the wheel. If it goes around about 2 1/2 times, then you've got 2.56's. If it goes around about 2 3/4 turns, you've got 2.73's. If it goes around about 3 1/4 turns, you've got 3.23's.

Also notice while one tire is spinning, if the opposite side goes in the same direction or the opposite direction. If both tires spin the same direction, you've got a limited slip (posi) rear. If they go opposite direction, then you don't.
