I am new to this forum because I'd like to sell this beautiful 1970 Buick GS 455 convertible with a manual 4 speed V8 engine. It has a Stage 1 decal on the air intake and I am not sure whether it is Stage 1 or not. Would you be able to direct me to someone who'd be able to evaluate the car?
    thanks

Where is the car located? There may be a forum member in your area who can look it over for you.

Get the Wayne Roberts report for it. I think for an extra charge he can put a "rush" on it for you. The Wayne Roberts report is like PHS for Pontiacs or a Marti Report for Fords. Im sure someone can provide contact info for him

Thanks, that would be awesome. How do I get in contact with Wayne Roberts?

Look for the build date on the cowl tag. Then, we can tell you where to go for the paperwork outside of the car. I assume that you have looked for it in the car. If not we can tell you where to look.

Take a close up picture of flat surface on either side of the hole where the oil dip stick goes into the block. Clean it first. You will see two letters and the first one on the left should be the letter S. What is the second letter?

Feel the surface of the stage 1 decal on air cleaner. Are the letters raised or flat?

Take a picture of the numbers on the driver's side of the carburetor. They run vertically.

The cowl tag has numbers and letters starting with 446670...….What is the letter of the after the zero?

Good point Jim, if its an early car, he'll need to go through the Sloan

I am not sure about the numbers but i think it was built in Flint, Mi. There is a FL1 after the 44667 numbers.

I cannot find a surface or numbers next to the oil stick and I don’t know where the carburetor is located:( sorry.

Below is a better picture of the cowl Tag.

Ok so you are still in the running. 12A is the first week of December 69 for the build. This could be an A.P. Sloan car but I need to look for the cut off number to be sure.

0H 100001 to 193507 for Sloan. (Looks like you may be just over into Wayne's records.)

I know someone who would be interested if it turns out to NOT be a Stage 1.

Does it have stage 1 emblems on the fenders? (A lot of owners added decals on air cleaners while few would go to the trouble of correctly adding emblems)

The fender emblems in the pictures in the first post do not appear to be Stage 1 emblems.

If there are no correct stage one emblems and the engine is a SR with a matching partial VIN, the odds are stacked in one direction.
