View attachment 259228 View attachment 259226 I was the one that took it out of my 70 Skylark and it was running well then. I regret ever doing it now knowing what it led to (engine swaps, etc), that motor was more than enough for a kid (I was 24?) and it ran plenty strong. I listened to an older coworker and had "big blocks" on my mind. It has sat in a garage over a decade so I make no gaurantee as to its condition. It should be a 10.25:1 compression motor and probably still has the original carb, intake & exhaust manifolds, valve covers as well as mounts & brackets -- I dont think I removed any of that. I will attempt to get pictures of it this weekend. If you are interested let me know and I can FWD pictures. If I have to borrow an engine hoist the price goes up $25. I want to point out this is from memory and I will update once i am able to put eyes on it. It is also possible that if more or less of the items mentioned above are there or added to the price may fluctuate, but I doubt much.
You'd probably do a lot better if you parted it out. If you decide to part it out and it really is 10.25:1 compression. I'll take the heads.
Jeff heads don't make 10.25to 1 pistons do in Buick motors. 350 heads are relatively close in chamber size till you get to later 70's heads . So if u want 10.to 1 or higher compression u need those pistons!
Shewt! I'm interested in the history of this motor. Skylarks did not come with 10.25:1 compression motors. At some point it was worked over and I'd like to know the method that was used to get it to that compression.
Well...I'm just embarrassed beyond belief. I thought 70 350s were 8.5:1 and 9.5:1. Thanks Chris for teaching me something new! Don't get too proud of teaching me though,... my head is virtually empty:Smarty:!!!!
Okay, I was going of memory on the compression... I BELIEVE it was an original 2-bbl carb 350. It had a 4-bbl on it when I got the car. I pulled it View attachment 259237 and believe it was untouched otherwise (as in not rebuilt). If the above posts are correct, the engine should be a 9:1 motor. Sorry about placement, but does the picture here help? Either way, Im asking $350 and it is in a garage @ 43143. Hope this helps
Perhaps I should point out the complete engine is located @ 43143 (Mount Sterling Ohio). How about $200 if you come with a hoist?
