350 HC, where does the vacuum line connect to?

Let me guess, the nipple at 10 O’clock on The carb that I just blocked off?

    Thank you!

Normally the air cleaner stuff was connected to a thermal vacuum switch in the intake.

My car is a 1970, wasn't that at least '71 and up?

There is a temperature sensor in the base of the air cleaner. It has 2 nipples. One goes to the vacuum motor in the snorkel, the other gets manifold vacuum. It doesn't matter where you get that manifold vacuum from, intake fitting or carburetor.

Back in the '70's we used to flip the top cover of the air cleaner over. That usually left a gap around the edge about 1/2" tall and let in more air. Sometimes we'd use a taller element. Had to use a longer hold down though. That was before K&N air filters.

I had the breather cover on my '70 chevelle upside down. Over time , the most of the black paint on the cover was worn off
