We need a V8Buick forum member to step up and rescue a one-of-a-kind car! I wish I could but after the I.R.S. got finished with me this month I won't be buying anything for a while...
Pictures of the documentation are shown on the auction.zip site, first pic I believe. Looks like the interior is apart as well door panels etc.
Duane, Sounds like you know the seller, so would it be possible to buy the car around the auction? It would be sad if not all the parts/car would be kept together. It would be an honor to have that car finished. Thanks
Guys- I'm not familiar with the Motion piece of this post. Very curious though. Can you fill me in on what a Motion car is and are there any pictures of what it would have looked like back in the day? I searched but came up empty. Thanks, Matt-
Explained on the page one of the post..... Edit - Jim beat me to it....had to be less than 30 seconds apart...
The car is under contract with the auctioneer, there will not be any purchasing of the car around him. As far as how it looked back in the day, it is a Light Blue car with I believe a Dark blue or Black top. It is an early car, so the double white pinstripe went from the front fenders to the rear wheel well, then over top the wheel well, and ended at the back of the quarter. Motion painted the raised section of the GS hood a gloss white with a thin white pinstripe around it. The hood also had a bit of white "scroll-work" at the front. Then on the trunk lid the recessed area was painted Gloss White with a double white pinstripe around it. The car carried both Hurst Equipped emblems on the trunk lid & dash pad, and had Motion Emblems on the valve covers, dash pad, and on the front fenders and trunk lid. It came equipped with the "hot" ignition, rear lower traction bars with snubbers (not the long ladder bars sorry about that) , Hurst wheels, scatter shield, fly eye air cleaner, B4B, rear fuel pump (near the gas tank), and red-line tires. The front & rear brake drums were also painted white, which sounds a little crazy, but they look fantastic behind the Hurst Wheels. It has a light blue Bucket seat interior with the 4-speed consolette. (I don't remember which steering wheel it came with.) And I think there was also some type of Gauge pod mounted to the consolette. (Can't quite remember but that makes sense as the 69 cars are a bit gauge deficient.) Now as for what is going with the car, I just talked to Jimmy and ALL the parts he bought for it will be going with it. The frame is powder coated and I believe all the upper/lower control arms are also done. The springs are new, as are the correct hard to find shocks. (The Chassis just needs assembly.) It comes with a pair of Original NOS Thrush mufflers, and he has all the correct 69 Motion Emblems, and Hurst Equipped Emblems. It comes with all 4 Original Hurst wheels (not repros), along with a set of original trim rings and center caps, and brand new Hurst center cap decals. It comes with a period correct scatter shield (boy did we have fun finding that one) The NOS "Fly-Eye" air cleaner goes with it, and I believe he has a restored Holley 4-barrel carb as well. I did the front and rear seat covers years ago and installed them on the frames. He also has a real nice passenger fender and core support that goes with it. I also remember the heads having Big Block Chevy valves, which also makes sense as Motion was primarily used to building Chevys. I know he has a block, heads, B4B intake, etc, but do not know their condition, as far as being rebuilt or not. I also do not remember what engine mechanicals he has, as far as pistons, cam etc. I know he has a 4-speed trans, and I think he has the correct shifter. The rear is a Posi, and I believe it is rebuilt, but don't quote me on that one. ........................and the documentation also goes with the car. That's all I can remember right now. Duane
Sounds so cool! Duane, your description was great but I’m trying to picture the decklid paint. Was most of it, or all of it, white, similar to the black on a ‘68 Hurst Olds? Or was the raised part body color? (I’ve seen the reverse of that done on ‘68s; painting between the stainless strips on the decklid and hood). Or am I completely wrong? Thanks, Patrick
