I am taking out a failed hidden radio, and putting the original radio back in. The front speaker isn't working, and I can't find the mounting nuts or bolts. I am working around the air box because the dash cover has to come off to remove it and I don't want to do that. Are the mountings also under the dash cover?

If I remember correctly, if it is a AC car, with the center duct you will need to remove the dash pad to remove the upper center duct to get to the speaker.

Good point GS - it is tight. I forgot that since mine is missing! I am putting one in I found at a pick n pull!

You are confirming what I thought I saw. The dash pad has to come off to remove the center duct for the AC, and I really don't want to do that. I can reach around the speaker, so might be able to find the fastener if I know what I am looking for. I have factory rear speakers that still work, but it would be nice to have all three working.

This is what the front speaker bracket looks like, held on with the one bolt.

Can't see the bolt but can see the speaker, hard to see but its the best picture I have of where it's located, bolt should be right above radio, but this is a non-air car so more room. Not sure if you can get to it without removing the duct?

Note: If its the factory dash speaker, even after removing the bolt you may have to pull pretty hard to get it unstuck as the seal melts from the heat and it's gets gummy like tar.

Also curious, your convertible had factory dual rear speakers? I thought factory was one speaker on convertibles mounted on the passenger side partition and the speaker wires ran down the passenger side floor boards.
