I have the chance to buy a 69 stage 1 , rebuilt 400 , auto ,a/c car for 16,500. Body finished. No bondo. Needs interior finished and install bumpers, lights, etc. Has extra parts, molding ,switches, etc. Numbers match. Is it worth it?

I would say if it is #'s match and the body is rust free with new paint and all you have to do is finish it up cosmetically and sink a few grand into the interior then I would say yes.

The biggest issue with a '69 Stage1 is how to document it. There are basically 2 ways

    1) Original Factory documentation from its build - a build sheet, window sticker, or or a protecto-plate with the POP being the least reliable.

    2) having the correct parts - RS coded block with Vin stamping that matches the cowl tag, BB TH400 transmission with numbers matching or a Muncie M21 or M20 with numbers matching. '69 10 bolt 8.2 Posi rear with either 3.42 (A/C equipped) or 3.64 (non-A/C). Should also have correct Carb and Distrib. All these parts should be date-coded to the cars' build time.

Since you say the motor has been rebuilt, if the block was decked - it probably removed the codes.

Definately something to check if there is no #1 info as listed above.

Good luck on getting the car !
