I have comunicated with the owner over the last month,,offered him 20k cash and they wouldnt budge of there price of 25k.. If I wanted a Hard top, I can find a bunch of Cali cars right next door to me.. but I was looking for a convert,,take a second look at post #5 of mine..

Do you have any other 69_convertiable links, preferably Non-GS cars, links?

Jman- I be pretty hard pressed to find a car better than the red ragtop that you're looking at. You have Alan, Chris, Don and myself saying the same thing. Between us, we have owned WELL OVER 30-50 68-69 GS's and have inspected WELL over 200-300 of these cars.
If Roy gives you the OK, I would go for it.

This GS is a total POS. I remember seeing it when the first dealer bought it for $10k, and it was a POS then, now it is a pig with lipstick. Dukec on this board was hired to inspect it and came away with the same conclusion. It has been for sale by 3 of the 4 local dealers in the last couple of years (Mark is the 4th and he refused to take it on his lot), I think only one "person" has bought it in that time frame and they quickly got rid of it. Run from it as fast as you can!

"Pig with lipstick":gp: Will it never go away??

I think you should swing by and look at it Jeff and then I will take a look tomorrow, the more sets of eyes the better.

"Pig with lipstick" is very appropriate - except the lipstick is kinda thin.

Guys, I have asked Mark to put the car aside, cause I am having a few friends come take a look at it.. I told him if my friends give me the thumbs up consider the car sold, I asked him to do so. He said not a problem.

I did not want to spend all this time on the car and then have some Buick guys go take a look and would hate for it to be sold, so I locked it down.. Marks knows I am very interested in the vehicle, as I have been talking to him for quite some time about the car.

If any of you guys are to busy to go take a look no problem. Thanks for all your help, input, and comments  much appreciated.

So that 69GS is a POS,, I would have never known looking at the pics..

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

first flag it raised when I looked at the pix is all that undercoating ... its looks fresh (not 20+ years old) so its prolly hiding something not wanted to be seen

To see if the rear wheel houses are truely unmolested, I like to take out the vent in the rear door jam, then have someone shine a flashlight through there while viesing from inside the trunk ... and vice versa, shining the flashlight in from the trunk along the outside of the wheelhouses and viewing from inside the vent.

Glad you have people checking it out for you - hope it all works out. As George pointed out, you've gotten the first class treatment here from some of the most knowledgeable 68/69 people.

BTW, we loosely refer to ourselves as the 68/69 Buick StepChildren because for many years (80s - 90s) the 68's and 69's were often overlooked. For many the body style is still a love it or hate it thing :Do No:

... For some of us, there are no other Buicks we'd rather own :3gears:
