Are there any hinges from other models that will give greater opening travel?
I don't mind a little modification as long as it looks and works properly.

I keep banging my head on my '68.

I know, life's tuff, and I have a helmet, but I never think to put it on until after I bang my head.

    Thanks. :)

So its not my imagination! Ever since I bought my 68, I thought the hood did not open as high as my 71 Stage 1 or my 69 SS396. Now I know it is true...

@TrunkMonkey any luck getting '69 hinges working on your '68? I've tried the aforementioned '69 hinge swap and it's not a bolt-on (at least not on my car '68 Skylark base). I found out the hard way that the inner fender mounting point for my '68's hinges have a raised "dimple" and the hinges are contoured to accommodate this. The '69 hinges are flat and can't possibly bolt on. See pics for comparison.

DanO , Looking at your pictures I do not think you have a 69 Skylark or GS hinge . I have not heard anyone comment on a problem with making the switch. I can get you a picture of a 69 hinge if you like . I do not have a set available for sale, but do have a set off my car that I can snap a picture of .

Yes. I put 69 hinges in. Direct bolt in. The base is the same on both, but the rest of the hinges are a bit different to allow for greater throw.

Those in you picture do not look like either my 68 or 69 hinges.

    Different model? (not Skylark)

Huh. Yeah if you could send me some pictures that would be great! Does your fender also have the dimple close to the firewall? Also, where did you end up getting your '69 hinges from?
For reference I tried to get mine from Eckler's: https://www.ecklers.com/1969-skylark-hood-hinges-with-springs-53-263338-1.html
Upon further inspection the Part# is the same as what they have listed for a 1969 Chevelle. Whoever coded the website must have assumed all A-Body's are created equal I guess...

Yeah those aren’t 69 Buick A body . You’re going to have to find a used original pair, which are in very high demand

I can send picks if you still want me to.

I have the 68 hinges removed, and the 69's installed.

Mine were purchased from a member a while back.
