    Hey all,

Recently I decided to go with buckets/console for the 68 Riv I'm working on, but then the deal I was looking at fell thru, so I'm in the market for the bucket seats, console with shifter and linkage, and floor shift tilt column. Preferably the seats would come with the attaching rails that are welded to the floor of the vehicle (think they're welded, but not absolutely sure). Really don't care what color the seat covers are. If you've got some or all of the above, how's about dropping me an email or PM and shoot me a price. Thanks.

The seat rails are all bolted to the floor, and a '67 is similar, but not the same appearance wise ! :TU:

    Hey there Bruno,

Like Rivman, I think the '67 seats have different upholstery, but are otherwise the same in terms of mounting. I think the console is the same, and possibly the steering column as well. Do you have the whole seat/console/column setup? Also, are the seats power or manual adjust? Thanks.

I believe the '67 still has the ignition switch in the dash, not on the steering column.

'68 Rivs have the ignition switch on the dash. The '66-'68 consoles and shifters are the same. The '67 seats will work, but have metal back and side panels,vs. plastic for the '68. I am not sure of the steering column. I believe the '68 column is a one year deal and matters if the car is equipped with cornering lights or not. Actually, '66 columns are one year only,'67 columns are one year only(collapsable design) and '68 columns are one year only due to the dash redesign .

Thanks Junkman Ted, so it looks like I really do need '68 only seats and column. That adds a bit of a challenge, but there's got to be some out there in a junk body. As far as cornering lites goes, I can go either way, with or without cornering lites, since I've got good front fenders with and without cornering lites. Might have to modify the wiring harness a bit, but that's doable. Thanks again Ted. Bruno, looks like I could only use the console from the '67 you're looking at.

The '67 seats would work,if you don't mind having metal panels, but the upholstery patern would need to be changed to match your standard or Custom interior. Most seats need re-upholster anyways. Biggest problem would be finding a competent shop that can stitch correct patterns.

Well, in this particular case, I think I'd rather have the actual 68 seats, but you're exactly right, finding a decent upholstery shop that can do the job right is usually a problem. I think Yardley had some stuff about upholstery on his website.

Also, I just picked up a console off of eBay, rough looking turd so who knows, I may still be in the market for a console after I see this thing in person.

Jim,if your going to do a change to buckets, your going to need the floor brackets for the seats and the console.I cut the floor out of a 67 Riv and brought the hole thing home to use as a pattern.Your also going to drill a hole in the right side of the trans tunnel for the linkage to go thru.Bruno,if you get the riv i looking for a hood lip molding and some other odds and ends so please keep me in mind. Thanks,Tom

    Tom,

Yes, I figured I'd need the floor brackets for the seats and I was guessing that the console had brackets of some sort also. As far as the hole in the trans tunnel, I'm thinking about trying to adapt a Quarterstick shifter to the console, but if it looks like it's going to get too ghetto, then I'll use the stock staple shifter. Any chance someone might have some pics of a 2nd gen Riv console/buckets floor pan??? Also, anyone have the console brackets and need to get rid of them? Thanks.

That would be great Doug. I may already have a line on a steering column, will know tomorrow, but as long as the seats aren't too far gone to re-pad and reupholster, should be fine. If the seats have some sort of floor-mounted attachments, I'd like to get them as well. Thanks. Also, whatever linkage might still remain for the console shifter.

Well, I got a tilt floor shift column today from a 68 Riv, so I guess I'm down to just needing the bucket seats...all presupposing that the console isn't a complete turd and that the column arrives here OK. Tom, yes, I'd appreciate some pics of the '67 floor pan you've got, that'd help in fabricating brackets for the console and locating the hole in the trans tunnel for the shifter/linkage. Thanks all.

I am probably picking up a 67 Riv that is complete and rotted. The console is in it and still has the shifter and all the linkage. Console is good except for the non-steel parts. Let me know if you still need. I will be parting this car out and only keeping the engine and trans. This also has all the AC components, good grille with headlight assembly, good mouldings. Has 4 ralleys that need to be cleaned up. let me know.

Right now, I think I've got a console/shifter and steering column, and I'm thinking I'll try to hold out for the '68 style bucket seats, so Tom, looks like you're first in line with twolfinger. Twolfinger, thanks for the offer, but I understand the '67 buckets are different than the '68s, metal vs plastic backs and sides. Thanks.
