1968 grill restoration

Hello , my "winter projet" is having my front grill restored and the surround rechromed as well

I'll post some pics of the evolution during the coming months

I'm also looking for a better Buick trishield crest for the grill if you have one ....

I probably like to paint it black like GS's keeping the silver grey in flat surround area .... what would be the correct grey color code ??? And is the black code "flat black" ??

Keep us posted on the cost to rechrome the bar. I always thought about having mine redone

 

Anyone has a good GS gril pic to see how the gray and black start/finish please ?

Now what color for the gray ?

 

Received my grll today after some repair (plastic weld) , very happy with the result , pretty more solid now !

Hello Mike , it will cost me 250 Can$ + 15% taxes for the bar ... the guys tell me it will look like brand new !

 

Here they are , reunite after few months apart !!

Next step would be to paint the grille (GS like) will look for the paint this week , if you have any advise it will be appreciate .

Mat black , satine black etc ... not much metalic grey to facilitate the job , which kind of primer ?

Nice work ; did grille on my 68 skylark custom this past fall and was fortunate to find a grille surround that was straight & rechromed. When you put it on your car it brings it to a new level

Primer is done ... the "hardest" is still to come (grey)

Your grill is looking very nice! I'm sorry I didn't post earlier. I've been crazy busy. You're doing a GREAT job. The most time consuming part is yet to come. Take your time, tape it up nicely, and you will be happy!!!

Finally !! I put it back on the car tonite but to late to take a picture lolll

 

Back on the car in time for the first outing of the season ... next project rear bumper rechrome $$$ !!

 

Get my bumper back from the chrome !!! Can't wait to put it back on the car in a few months ..... next things is the rubber bumper that I saw on ebay from the Part Place
