I was at Eds today and was looking the 72 he has for sale over pretty carefully. This is one very well built car, and so nicely done. The paint shines like it is wet, the engine has the little rumble that tells you dont Mess with me. There is nothing on this car that some one could not like. I had one heck of a time resisting from loading it up on the trailer I had just purchased and bringing it back to Iowa. This car of Ed's is AWESOME, tell me , whats not to like about a triple black GS rocket ship. :TU:
Ed and I are currently in discussion about the car. We're trying to work out when I can come see the car before purchasing.
Brad, If I were you, I wouldnt wait. At the price he wants for the car, you could NOT build one yourself. While Ed may be a man of his word and say he will hold it for you, and I have no reason to believe he wouldnt hold the car for you. But, in all reality, the first person walking up and handing him a fist full of dollars, could just drive home in the car of their dreams. Anyone who has sold a car in the past has heard someone say, I want the car, but.... In all honesty, If it were me considering this car, I would send him a check contingent upon your inspection. I can say with out fail, you will NOT be unhappy with the car. If you cant come down in person, you may want to enlist the help of someone on this board, or contact a service that will evaluate a vehicle for you. Just my 2 cents worth
I have been looking on and off at several of these cars for a local older collector in my area. He cannot seem to make up his mind on a real nice clone or a rough stage 1 re builder. I am just about done trying to help him. I think hes one of those guys that would pay 75K for a Hemi clone roadrunner but expects to find a legit 70 stage 1 4 spd for under 10k thats looks as good as Eds car. Those MOPAR guys are out there.
I had a friend with me this past weekend when I was at Eds, who is a Mopar guy, and he fell in love with the car. In fact he brought it up several times on the trip home as to how nice a car it was and for such a reasonable price.
Marke is there a hope to make him a convert to the other side? I have Brad coming on the 26 to look at it.
I dont think so. He had a huge appreciation for the car, but the mopars are his first love. I gave up many years ago trying to convert him.
I have a 65 skylark floor shift car I picked up 7 or 8 years ago. Not a bit of rust. I'm thinking of selling it no place to work on it any more. and with a 455 it aint cheep to drive.
I have a 71' skylark (project car) picked up in california about 10yrs ago... rust free. It's been sitting in my garage and I've lost interest. It would make someone a nice ride.
My 1970 Skylark Custom Convertible is about to go up for sale and I am asking 6800.00, so I am well below the 10,000 range... I have receipts and photos from the restoration process, along with spare parts and manuals... I am open to deals for $$ or a vehicle of similar value... Russell :3gears:
I have just listed my '74 Apollo for sale. Body is very good and has been garage kept for the last 16 years. It has a 455, TH350 and posi. Still needs to have finishing touches (i.e. paint). I'm asking $5000...classified is listed on the site here.
